We Ever Going To Get New Ships?

The multiverse is extremely lethal to humans. We should be bumping into all sorts of hot death.

I'm thinking about both tiny and huge Monsters. Tiny like Wollheim's The Rag Thing, and huge as in H. P. Lovecraft.
Agree. I'd certainly prefer this being the focus rather than new ships.

I actually can't think of a role for a new ship with the the way the game is right now that isn't basically doubling up on something else.

Wow. I get it that you're defending the honor of the Sidewinder and all, but seriously? Either of those makes a great mission-running starter ship that later on converts into a Happy Fun Taxi.
Not if you dont think being a taxi is fun😉

I like ships that blow things up or look nice. The hualer and adder do neither. i dont like the sidewinder either. Thats the point in how much more i dislike those other two ships

See, now we're getting somewhere. There's a big difference between "I dislike" and "are worthless".

Yeah but the problem is that small ships have mostly been balanced out of the game. Vulture is the only meaningful one pretty much. While I personally like the Adder and Hauler and like the Sidewinder a lot, or used to anyway, there's really literally no point to playing these ships once you move beyond them. Not just because everything else is better but because the kinds of stuff you see from the mission board and the spawns just pushes you to higher ships.

The I gotta say today I've been seeing some differences from spawns so maybe they changed something server side.

But if I don't like something it is worthless to me. No confusion. EVERYTHING in game is relative to the person doing it. If to me they are worthless, then they are 100%. Im pretty sure you could blow them up with an srv.

We need new material fdev.
Other than fleet carriers by the middle of this year, you will just need to wait for the premium expansion at the end of the year. The situation has been made clear on several occasions through various announcements. Whether we individually like it or not, that is the way it is.

Didnt the mamba and both kraits and the type 10 all just come out last year? If not, disregard.
Krait Phantom (and Mamba IIRC) were part of the 3.3 update E/O 2018.
Krait Mk II was par of 3.1 update mid 2018.
Type 10 was part of the 2.4 update E/O 2017.

I would always prefer the Viper Mk IV over the Vulture for small ship combat.

I believe the real problem is that starter ships aren't really a thing anymore.
If you start with a Sidewinder you can make the money for an Asp in less than an hour. Why would a new player explore with the Adder or Hauler?
Errm... How?

Remember none of us have the rep or rank at that point to notionally get the higher paying missions.

Pretty much all ship types and uses are covered, the only real gaps lie where factions are lacking a niche ship - e.g. imperial medium ship.

What would be good would be new SRV's (more cargo version, better climber version, more shooty etc), and possibly new non-fighters for the fighter bays (e.g. mining helper ships flown by pilots or launchable explorer ships that can be sent to do planet scans). Poor examples off the top of my head but you get the idea!

I strongly agree with the second part but I don't agree with the first part.
Small ships are only useful for obscure people like me who enjoy limiting themselves. In terms of progression they are pretty much meaningless, if someone plays for 100 hours a maximum of 10% will be in a small ship. They just don't have a role.

PS
I always dreamt of some special modules which would turn small ships into beasts, but they would cost as much as a Cutter...

Maybe an hour is exaggerated, but you get what I mean. Sounds like a nice challenge for an alt account if had one.
An hour is more than an exaggeration, it is hyperbolic - might be feasible if you tag up with the right player in multi-crew and they happen to be making the right amount of money at the time but even then I think you would be pushing it at least a bit (if not alot).

Overall though, I would reckon on it taking longer than you are implying.

Yeah, maybe two hours... ;)
You can easily get a Cobra within a few minutes, from there you can advance to the Asp very quickly.

PS
That guy went from Sidewinder to Anaconda in 4.5 hours:

And it doesn't even sound complicated...
