Newcomer / Intro Huge Hardpoint.... Beams or Cannons

Thinking about buying a Corvette. With 2 Huge hardpoints should I go with 2 multi-cannons or 2 lasers?

Yes I know beams(thermal) are good at dropping the safety bubble and cannons(kinetic) do hull damage.

Currently have multi-cannons on my 1 huge and 1 large hardpoint on my Anaconda.

I used to have MC, but now have beams.
MC are ok as long as you don't do the stupid thing and apply corrosive to one of them. The size 1s are for applying special nerfs.

My vette is pretty much for exclusive use in cz, where shield stripping is slightly more important than Hull damage. It allows your fighter and other NPC's the ability to actually damage the enemy, rather than flying round in circles chipping away at recharging shields forever.

Of course, whatever type you choose for huge, the other should be on the med and large

Unbalanced weapons left and right is for craaaaazzzeeeee people 😉

I have MC with incendiary ammo effect... it helps to take shields off and shreds targeted modules.

Not necessarily.
On my CZ grinding corvette i have a single Huge MC, overcharged with corrosive. Rest are beams and pulses
It is way cheaper to resynth ammo for a single MC than for 2. Especially if the MC gets used, let's say, conservatively - hull only, short bursts

Since when newcomers are buying 'Vettes...took me 9 months to get my Cutter...

It only depends on the number of hours per day invested in the game and how optimally play to achieve your goals. 9 weeks past purchase date i had a fully engineered cutter on my xb account.
Also, in last December there was that Interstellar Initiative that greatly increased Fed rep gain.

Probably also heavy targeted grinding. Meaning that "optimal play". Though I'd really advice against it. Big ships can be big disappointments. Or not, I certainly like my Cutter very much...

I have 2 fixed cannons with G5 Overcharged on my Corvette and I mean real cannons not multicannons. They are devastatingly effective against hull and even do quite well against shields. I have gimballed beams on the large and medium hardpoints to support the cannons in dropping shields and destroying small agile ships (which are very hard to hit with cannons). On the small hard points I have rail guns with G1 longrange and feedback cascade to counter shield cells.

For my cutter I've got fixed burst lasers - engineered to 'focus' for the 4 and 3 weapons.
And a couple of gimballed beam lasers on two of the 2s

On the other two 2s I got missile racks.

It's not really a killing machine but I can usually do enough damage to persuade attackers to go away.

I do not say that my setup is any good, but my Cutter has in its huge hardpoint G5 multicannon, I don't remember what specialties it has, smaller hardpoints have rapid fire pulse lasers and multicannons. Gimballed setup. Mostly idea is to trade off Cutters poor turning characteristics with volume of fire while keeping heat production manageable...
