[Video] January update, was this what we ASKED?! & Fleet carrier delay...

I'm assuming you mean "in vain", but that's just more of that book-learnin' us White Knights are known for, I guess.

This thread has already gone over how the Open Letter asked for exactly what this update requested. There were laughs had due to the fact that the person complaining about not getting what was asked for 1) asked for exactly this in the open letter, and 2) posted a video about the January update that was made before the January update was even out.

I know you aren't overly concerned with any discussion and this is just a busy thread to scowl into. How did the game hurt your feelings today?
This is an interesting approach - insisting someone is emotional or has hurt feelings. It seems a little desperate to me, but whatevs.

I did not mention averages.

True, that just makes the idea of in-game time even sillier.

I did not mention value related to time played.

Then why the hell are you mentioning play time?

First time I hear that for a player to decide if the bugs are serious or not for him he needs to listen to the community instead of playing the game and see for himself. Well that is not a straw man like your other responses but it is fresh at least! :)

A strawman? I directly gave a reason as to why it's possible to play a buggy game with little inconvenience which is in direct oposition to what you claimed, you are actually twisting my words given I didn't say you needed to listen to the community to observe bugs.

Hey Stigbob, how do you feel about the update? Positive changes for the game overall?
I, for one, think the changes are wonderful. It’s taken 5 or 6 years but it’s almost playable now and there might even be some stuff to do soon. I do mean that. It’s a real work of art this game. I can’t wait until it’s finished.

I'm a space billionaire who doesn't care about exploding pixels or rebuy but the prospect of losing Beryl my steely eyed posh voiced perpetually chipper SLF pilot deters me from going to Shinrarta, engineers and CG's in open. So I think the NPC rebuy mechanic is an absolutely fantastic addition to the game and a direct implementation of something the players have been asking for. General bug fixes are always a good thing, but as a rule the games really stable for me so no real change there.

I'm looking forward to jumping in as soon as my rural broadband creaks and groans its way to a full new install on my dapper new system that will be able to run everything maxed out so I can properly appreciate my freebie green lasers.

Just to clarify - is the new SLF pilot mechanic that you buy them back from death? That seems.....odd?

Same here, I really don't get it.

Sure, I've seen a few bugs. Never experienced something game breaking though. Maybe it's just that I don't play 100% of the possible activities all the time and I am lucky that I always do something that works?

Well and I rarely play on patch day, maybe it's that.

But sometimes I get the feeling that the people who complain about myriads of bugs are searching the forums for bug reports, just to try them out themselves in order to be as annoyed as possible. It's either that or they must be very unlucky.
Depends what they are I haven't been following this thread too closely, it's a bug fix release. 🤷‍♂️

It is hard to say if they are justified but I did encounter one bug recently that was pretty bad.

I'd normally use HOTAS in the FSS, but switched to mouse for a bit. Turns out at 300fps in the FSS the mouse moves incredibly slowly, in the region of 15 ish full hand mouse moves and lifts to do 360, this was with FSS mouse sensitivity at max.

Obviously I was confused by this until I figured out it was somehow tied to framerate and by limiting my frames to 60fps I was able to make the FSS useable. So well ok, it seems a bad implementation but I'll just go 60fps not then end of the world.

But at 60fps you quickly discover geological FSS scan time is also tied to framerate, but here the lower the framerate the longer it takes. At 300fps around 4 seconds, at 60fps around 20 seconds!

As a player you're essentially stuck in a pretty crap situation due to a shoddy implementation. You either put up with RSI after FSSing 3 systems or you sit there for 20 seconds waiting for each geological scan to complete.

I had managed to work round this, I play at 300fps for the 4 seconds scans, but have to have a mouse DPI switch button to toggle 1000/16000DPI in and out of FSS to make the thing useable.

This sort of thing I can see really upsetting people, if I hadn't have found a workaround for this I'd be pretty miffed at Frontier, it's well below what we should be able to expect, but then again this is why we have a bugfix patch.

I know the first thing that goes through my mind when I see somebody compare video game improvements with fecal home invasion is "what an emotionally sound individual", ay?

It's not just that you don't play the game, but you don't really know much about the game. Like:

A change that was pretty much universally requested by players. Now, that's people who play the game, so I can understand why you'd be confused. But it does illustrate how uninformed your reaction to the update is, because you don't really know how it actually affects the game, you only know what you've seen from whatever sources fit your bias.

Game's been improved. Changes we wanted were implemented. It's a good update overall. My opinions are informed by experience.

You are hanging around the forum of a game you don't play complaining about bugs you've never experienced and comparing that to a carpet pooping home invasion.

So yes, you do seem very emotional indeed. Otherwise you'd have been able to just uninstall and get on with something else.

We need a term for the opponents of White Knights: NPCs. Not-Playing Complainers?

I'm pretty glad about the mining changes, it was a bit too much, so now people will actually benefit from understanding how the economies work a bit better, and won't be able to get by so easily with just the third-party tools.

I've heard the game's running smoother than ever for some, but I haven't especially noticed. I'm glad for a cleaner performance, I know it was always worse on the consoles.

Why do you need a term for this?
Complaints are absolutely fine here, it's just you lot have trouble handling criticism of Frontier and take it as a personal offense. Which is why you then inevitably start with the personal jabs back, it's like you think you are Frontier or something, or can't really separate yourself from the game/company.

That's the opposite of the actual problem. It is generally the NPCs that engage in personal attacks, and then get all huffy when the response is in kind.

If we somehow managed to whisk away from the forum those that haven't played for several updates and patches, there will still be plenty of complaining here on the forum. But it would be a lot more constructive criticism I bet.

I think you confuse criticism aimed at Frontier and criticism aimed at a person posting.

Frontier is a big company they can handle it and although it might not always be worded as you want there will often be some justification for it.

I'm more talking about the personal attacks on people (often criticising Frontier) as being the issue. I honestly don't care if someone says Frontier did a bad job, it doesn't bother me, some folk here take it a touch too personally though.

Link me a few, please. Well, actually don't. This is not a new discussion and it will never get resolved as long as it stays as vague generalities.

C'mon. You lot are the folk brainstorming names you can call people then patting each other on the back for a job well done right?
