Why isn't anyone meta alloy trading?

What upfront cost - given that they are 'free', though slow to gather?
You can buy them now.
There is a certain type of players who will just grind whichever exploit is most profitable at the moment. This is not it.
The rest of us just do whatever we find fun. If I happened to be at a place to buy meta alloys, I would buy some, then sell them somewhere else and then go do something else. But I don't think I would do rounds of this just because it's easy money. Where's the fun in easy money?
You found a better source than Darnielle's then? Buying one every 10 minutes isn't going to make you rich
Even harvesting them for free is faster than that...
You were always able to buy them in Maia, that's not new. I think though you only get a certain amount. Could be wrong though. Apart from that, the risk/reward ratio isn't really good enough, and mining for example pays more. Exploration as well if you really go for profit.

meta-alloys are super supply-limited in the spots they're available at.

If that meta alloy CG was back when Meta Alloy has been discovered, I joined it myself. Memory's a bit hazy about that though.
