Absolute Tuning Issue

When the FSS first came out, I found that using Absolute Tuning was way better (for me) than using the normal tuning function. I bound the Absolute Tuning to the wheel on the outside of my Thrustmaster TWCS throttle, and it was very quick and easy to use and pretty accurate.

I just had cause to use the FSS recently, and now, any time I use Absolute Tuning and move the marker over a signal it jumps around wildly, making it almost impossible to use. It's still bound to the same axis on the same throttle, although I've changed my stick.

It's not a huge deal as I rarely use the FSS now and I've bound the normal tuning and can use that, just wondering what might be causing that behavior, or if anyone else has experienced it.

I play in VR just in case that might be relevant.

i didn't notice anything different on the FSS with the last patch and i use absolute tuning all the time. Sometimes i get a little jitter with my old X52 HOTAS. i check the deadzones on the control panel for it and every now and then i need plug out the joystick and reconnect to reset it.

Thanks for your replies.

The deadzone was set where I used to have it, but I will try to replug the throttle. I haven't used the FSS for a long time, and jumping around is pretty extreme. I'm pretty sure it's not the hardware, as I also now use the wheel axis for the sensor zoom, and that works fine.

I've kept the absolute tuning configured to use the throttle axis itself, and have never had issues. Is it possible that the wheel is misbehaving? Might try binding it to a different axis as an experiment, and see if you get the same behavior.

Do you have another axis (stick twist in my case) bound to Relative Tuning? If so, you could be inadvertently hitting that at the same time, causing it to jump around.

I did initially, having the standard tuning on the stick (roll) axis, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't moving the stick at the same time, and I changed that anyway as it wasn't working well on my new stick because it interfered with the yaw axis that I use to pan around the FSS screen, so standard tuning is now bound to a hat, and I am pretty sure that the jumping around was still happening after I changed the standard tuning controls.

But I will check next time I play. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Orvidius. I use the wheel for sensor zoom also and that works fine, so I don't think so (and I did remove the sensor zoom binding to check that wasn't the issue).

Still, since plenty of people are using Absolute Tuning just fine, then it definitely looks as though it's something to do with my setup. Thanks for all the responses!
