What is Frontier's point of view on the rise of mods?

Do you mean Frontier making mods or players making them? The first way is legal the second is not, due to licensing reasons.

The potential responses to this question is something I am also interested in knowing. We know that Frontier was not supportive of mods, but it was only a matter of time before modders made a breakthrough and here we are. Modding itself is a controversial thing, and it can cause potential issues like people trying to mod in paid DLC content for free, or it can help the longevity and overall interest of the game due to the incredible amounts of diversity and replayability it can bring - there's a reason why JPOG is still modded and played to this very day. Now that there has been an explosion of mods, it would be nice to hear what Frontier's thoughts on the matter are and if they plan to take any actions.

Not sure what you are looking for here - fdev have made it clear they don't support modding, but I doubt any company would try and block you playing a non-online game with mods - much as they don't stop you playing the game on an under-spec system. Of course if the mods break after an update they won't care, and they won't be testing with the mods - so that is down to you. And if you call support / raise issues with any mods you will probably just get told to remove them and re-install.

Mods aren't allowed, and quite honestly Frontier needs to start going after websites like Nexus mods that host the files. Mods wouldn't be available if they were more diligent in having them removed. The mods available aren't even good, it's all silly re-edits and whatnot, and most will corrupt your save files, so why even bother?

No they shouldnt and you are wrong about the save files. Stop spewing nonsens. Whats your agenda?

oh look, someone doesn't know a single thing about mods, is incapable of using them, and wants everyone else to be as miser as he is. How about no? Let me enjoy my mods.

I'm curious. Why are you against mods?

Yeah that’s exactly the reason I’m not downloading any mods whatsoever.Theres no way I’m risking my save files and all the progress I made just to have a redecorated Dino in my park.

That's what backing up your saves is good for - which is something that's generally good to do anyway since while pretty rare, save data corruption can still happen for one reason or another, with or without mods. Most mod authors will highly advise backing up your saves before fiddling with mods too...

Let's see now. Bartender 4.0, Spartan UI, mightmacro, farming mods, flying mods, PvP highlighters, raid incoming boss mods, at my last count in 2015 I had about 35 external apps in world of warcraft. Not one was supported by blizzard. And yet without those apps the games basic ui is unplayable. So it's nonsense to say don't use em. Besides I don't think any elite apps are on your system as such you goto their site? Link your account so they collate data relevant to why your there in the first place. I wholly support modding. The authors/coders are Gods bless em.

hmmmm funny thing i'm about to share a video here about a park with mixed era mods. it doesn't affect your save files. it makes the game so much better with so many building options. there was an update 1.12.3, which made it unplayable for a few minutes. but people got a way around it. lol anyways just back up your original game files and you're good to go. i don't support it but it makes the game way more fun actually. but to each his own. different strokes for different folks eh. :)

UPDATE: my video / forum post was taken down because it featured mods. anyways the video is in my youtube channel, you guys can check it out there. it's about Jurassic Park Institute. :)

When it comes to mods, they have stated that player made mods for JWE are seen as illegal due to licensing issues.

When it comes to modding in general, this is a thing virtually every videogame ever made is liable to. It could be an update in graphics and A.I. like in several Bethesda games, or complete meme fests like seeing shrek in the legend of zelda breath of the wild. As long as the data is available, certain players with the ability to mod could mod the games.

In a way, I do see some light into modding. Frontier could see this as an opportunity to see what players would like to see be implemented into the game, and observe what methods are taken into consideration to make those changes possible, and apply a similar method with a more official quality into them. Mods should not be seen in a negative light as it is more than often done out of passion and to keep the game alive and discover new things within the data. I would like to see the approach to modding similarly to SEGA towards mods in their games, as they get to utilize and make some great products out of hacks and mods done to improve the quality of their future titles and implementations.
