Please don't add more African animals until other continents have greater representation

Personally I wouldn't mind.
If a DLC should have 1 African Animal, no big deal.
(To give my POV: personal preference would be biome DLC, that could mean we get animals from multiple continents(like Jungle/Desert)

I'll take any dlcs. Even fish and birds and I couldn't care less about them, to be honest. I just love the game, so whatever they'll give me to make it go forward, I'll take it.
If I was able to make wishes, it wouldn't be an african dlc, though. Marine/land animals, european animals, australian animals etc. are higher on my list. And as a builder (that still can not believe she is one, really), I need moooore pieces. And Africa is well represented in this section.

I also don’t mind what we get next. Some of my most wanted animals are still from Africa. Meerkats, black and white rhinos, baboon, and a secretary bird would be great.
I also would like them in the Game but I would add the Congo Peafowl to the List.
But I also agree there should be more Animals from other Continents

I mean, I can definitely see where OP is coming from. I threw this together a few days back for another thread on here:

Sorry, it's kind of big, but it illustrates the point that Africa, as a continent, is highly represented here. Meanwhile, look at Oceania, Central and South America, and Europe. I appreciate that they have Africa so well-represented, because it wouldn't be a zoo game without the classics (lions, tigers, bears, oh my! And zebra, giraffes, elephants....) but I do hope that they try to give some love to the other continents. And other biomes, actually---only 3 habitat species can live in a (hot) desert biome.

Nothing wrong with more African animals, obviously, but I'd genuinely love to see a wider variety of animals represented in future updates.

I am definetely not opposed to more African animals but I think we need to have more diversity first and then return to Africa. Unless they are introducing birds or another type of animal we don't really have in which case I'd be happy to see African birds included.

That’s usually the norm in zoo games. African animals are so popular. But I can definitely see where your coming from. The next dlc will be a mystery it could literally be anything at this point so that’s exciting. Plus we still have variants to look forward to. Waiting’s the hard part.

If they include a fox I'll give them a pass on whatever else they include 🤣

There’s still hope for both the Arctic and red fox. Both could be Eurasian animals technically. Alls I ask is frontier takes their time and release some unique animals and rigs. I’m definitely ok with some similar animals for sure. There’s always fennec foxes as well to cover more desert animals.

When you look at representation in real life zoos, seems about right..

Personally i'm not that focused on the continent.

Australian/(North) American animals aren't that well represented in European zoos.
European animals are mostly petting zoo animals (at least most of them)
African/Asian animals are well represented.

Maybe a bit off-topic but is this similar in zoos from continents?
(NA Zoo has few European/Australian zoos ?)

Why do you think this? Once I've made a List of European Animals that maybe could be interesting in the Game and I think only 1 or 2 of the Animals on the List could be in a Petting Zoo (if I exclude the domesticated Animals and currently there are only 3 domesticated Animals on the List)

Already liked it when you posted it :D
Love to see them in-game...

Out of this list, the Griffon Vulture, crested porcupine and the smaller mammals (exhibit size) are found in a lot of zoos (please correct me if i'm wrong :D )
- most people consider the crested porcupine as (North) African - the only European country that has them is Italy (??)

And I meant European animals in IRL zoos :D
Kinda lacking in most zoos..

Yes, both of these Species do often live in Zoos (at least in Europe. I don't know if they also live as often in AZA Zoos as they do live EAZA Zoos)

I also was surprised when I found out they are also living in Italy. I thought they are only living in Africa.

There really aren't that many North American and European animals represented in zoos in real life, which is part of the problem.

I'm not opposed to more diversity in the slightest, but I think it's important to consider why these areas might have been overlooked to begin with.

There are some animals in each area I think appear in some zoos - the Iberian lynx, Alpine ibext, wolverine, collared peccary, to name a couple - but not nearly as much as you might find from Africa or Asia.

There are some Zoos in Germany with mostly European Animals. But I don't know how it is outside of Europe.

I should've picked a better explanation for this one.. Most bigger zoos in Europe don't have that much European animals.
There are some zoos that have them, but they are more present in smaller zoos. (at least that's my experience)
African animals/Asian are more popular in most of them.

Agreed, I would include Australia/Oceania to that part as well. (Kangaroo, Wallaby or Emu are basically the only larger animals to be found, if they have any Austalian animals)

The bison is pretty popular in the bigger zoos but when i look at the smaller zoos in the Netherlands, they have the NA beaver and/or Prairie Dog.
But I also live really close to the German border and the (smaller) Nordhorn Tierenpark have different european animals.

I know, this is in Dutch :D, but this one is the prettiest (imo) and a large zoo in the Netherlands and a clear example on how much attention is paid to certain continents.

And this one is a small one, also somewhere near my hometown.

I know the names are in Dutch, but they have pictures and the map doesn't help :D
This is considered a small zoo with a bit more focus on aquatic animals/birds.
They actually have more Australian animals than the bigger zoo.

And looking at those pics - i really want a Cotton-top tamarin (Pinche-aap)

You can't blame Africa for having all the cool megafauna like lions, giraffes, elephants, hippos, rhinos etc. (Yes I know lions, elephants, and rhinos live in Asia too but the African ones are more famous). You can't stop them from adding African animals. I see them adding rhinos, some more birds (shoebills, secretary birds for example), maybe meerkats, and possibly even more antelope. But anyways, yeah, I have a feeling a new animal pack is coming soonish as a new DLC has been posted onto the steamDB page

Interesting. I can't wait to find out which kind of Expansion it will be. I like the Arctic Pack but I really hope it will have more Animals. Is there also a Information when we can expect the Release?

I mean, I won't mind less, but well done animals. Certainly better than more but crappy animals. But anyways, 0 info about the release
