Occupied Escape Pod

I picked up the Bug Killer's escape pod the first time I went there.

But then when I went back the next time the blasted idiot had got himself into exactly the same pickle again, so I just left him there.

.. and load up three more home players for a full team rescue. Yay, success!

I'll see your one and raise you twelve!

I collected a few escape pods the other day while out exploring. Actually for the sake of immersion, since we don't get much from it.
But wouldn't it be cool if there were people attached to these pods? Like, when handing them in, someone would contact us and thank us, or offer a follow-up job, or reward us with some more credits, or a lot more credits if the person is filthy rich. Or maybe they need a job now that their ship is destroyed and offer their crew services for a good price. I'd love that. There would be something attached to these pods which would imply that there is actually a person in there.

I always felt bad finding occupied escaped pods when I was mining for mats, but had no cargo space to store them.

I had to leave them there, hoping their emergency systems would keep them alive until they were "found" again.

Maybe they were in suspended animation? Otherwise, RIP, space cowboy.

It's their own fault. They should have joined the Pilots Federation and got the proper escape pods that take you somewhere useful. :)

I felt the same as you did.

I have found it somewhat entertaining (and perhaps immersion breaking?) that the more populated a system is, the higher chance it is unable to police itself and respond to distress calls.

On the one hand, higher population should lead to a statistically higher chance of accidents and the like. Right?
On the other, a capital system - the seat of military power - having such a rampant piracy and safety issue is quite, um, odd.

I sometimes think RNG in code is actually under-utilized rather than over-used. A few more variables and clarifiers can really enhance its potential if some forethought is put into it. Yet, it seems, it rarely is.

Glad you're enjoying the newness of the game.

Eventually this kind of thing will be a bit of a "meh" moment - I reckon they could make them less of a meh moment if finding one could mean being plunged into several procedural generated multi stage scenarios.

Even then, they'd probly become a bit meh eventually.
