Continental DLC's

Hey guys I get what NZFanatic is trying to say. But in reality there’s not a lot of animals were asking for that don’t use existing animals in some way or another. They don’t have to do a kangaroo of course but you almost do have to. I have confidence in that one. I’m a little more worried about penguins and otters simply because of the water mechanics involved. But I did read they’ve tweaked the water for this particular game. And since animals already swim it can’t be crazy to think they can’t tweak it for those two animals. As far as existing animals getting it also I wouldn’t know. How many times can you go backwards except for maybe crocodilians and that’s a maybe. I do know if you bug frontier enough they’ll explore all possibilities hence water parks in planet coaster. I for one know that if frontier didn’t commit to newer rigs for a couple animals and people knew that going in more people may have not bought this game. But I’m a patient guy I know there’s some optimization issues to be settled yet and I’m used to waiting for new content from the Aurora Designs days in zt2. I know good items take time. All’s I’m asking is frontier explore all possibilities and if doesn’t work for whatever reason I’ll accept that.

Oh I have absolutely no doubt Frontier will eventually add diving and proper swimming to the game. The purpose of my wishlist, again, was to suggest some simpler (in terms of creation) animals. I think it's important to set the bar low so I'm not disappointed - either I'll be pleasantly surprised, or I'll get what I expected to get.

I also think they will create new rigs down the line, but I believe they'll avoid it as much as possible (hence my pessimism around an Australian DLC). They're shackled by their shareholders - for shareholders, profits are the most important thing, not the community. For Frontier, that's a balancing act - trying to please everybody at once (honestly I feel most sorry for the community managers; it must be stressful trying to play the diplomat with us when all we seem to do is complain and make demands). Frontier has a great reputation for community outreach and for listening to their fans, but at the same time they have to look after their shareholders. While keeping the community happy does go a long way towards increasing profits, cutting costs is a standard MO for most businesses to ensure profits are maximised. If you can make sure people still buy your product while at the same time making it as cheaply as possible, then you win no matter what.

So in essence, I think Frontier is doing the best they can with what they've got, and I think they will produce some stuff that makes us all really happy - just not all the time. I think a lot of the time we might wind up disappointed or at least not "wowed" by what they give us (look at the Arctic wolf again - that was doubtless not the reaction they hoped for, but I'm sure they expected it).

Anyway, you are absolutely right in saying that there are still bugs and optimisation issues to work out, and I'm certainly not asking for content to be pumped out like on a production line. Everything takes time.

(Also, Aurora Designs? Man that takes me back - didn't they stop creating content all together?).

I guess another possible option for an Australian DLC would be to make a hopping rig and then reuse it multiple times in that one pack. So as well as a kangaroo, there could also be a species of wallaby (of which there are quite a number floating around in zoos, with the Bennett's definitely the most common) and a quokka could also probably use a macropod-type rig. I could imagine if Frontier went to the effort of making a unique rig for a kangaroo, they would try and use it multiple times.

Undoubtedly. Which is the great thing about these rigs. I mean, I'm fairly certain they used the zebra rig as a basic model for the camel, yet the camel doesn't feel like a clone of the zebra. They can do awesome things with them.

Yeah it’s died right down after he left. The whole community has really there might be like ten to twelve people active everyday. I think most switched over to planet zoo.

Not a continent, but I would like to see an "Indian Wildlife" DLC. I was recently building an Indian Elephant and Asian Rhino exhibit, and decided to add a Bengal tiger and gharial exhibit. That got me thinking that it would be cool to have a whole Indian wildlife themed area. Species I would like to see for that would be.......
  • Axis deer (Chital)
  • Sambar
  • Barasingha
  • Blackbuck
  • Nilgai
  • Gaur
  • Water Buffalo
  • Sarus Crane
  • Indian Leopard
  • Asian Lion
  • Sloth Bear
  • some type of Langur
  • and some type of Macaque
And of course we already have peacocks. Could really make a cool themed area with those species.!!

I agree India has many great animals we could use in game. My top 4 picks from your list would be Nilgai as they are unique and would look awesome in game. Indian leopard because the game needs one not to mention it’s one of my favorite subspecies. Asian lion I know..... we already have a lion but this subspecies would be a great alternative. And last the Sloth Bear very interesting animals and unique to current list of bears. But all would make great choices.

Yes, I think Nilgai are very unique looking and would look good in game. I think Frontier would do a good job on them. The Blackbuck would also be a good addition. You could do mixed exhibits with nilgai and blackbuck.

And I know this is all very wishlist, but if I could add two more they would be the Lion Tailed Macaque and Nilgiri Tahr.

My picks would be the nilgai, blackbuck, lion-tailed macaque, and Asiatic lion. Personally I'd prefer the African or Amur leopard if we had to pick just one leopard subspecies.
