Why Federal Corvette?

I dont need two class 4s. My whole ship is a weapon

Truly, a weapon of immense power, feared by mortal men thoughout the galaxy and never to be underestimated.

.... as a terrific source of engineering materials and scrap.

I just unlocked the Corvette and got it going. Some of you may have asked yourselves, why would I get this ship? If you ever wanted to wear two FDL's as a hat, I recommend it.

P.S. She's slow, but I forgive her.

Congratulations, CMDR Iron Golem! I am pleased to read that you now have your own Corvette! As I mentioned to you during our encounter in game, I recently unlocked my Corvette and I have nothing but good things to write about the Corvette. Why the Corvette? Because everyone ought to have a miniature Star Destroyer. And don't pay any mind to folks saying the Corvette can't jump. The Corvette has a maximum jump range of 500 ly, per jump, while docked inside a Fleet Carrier. :giggle: o7

Worst part about a ship like a Corvette (or other big ship) is how to set them up.

If it's a cargo ship it's pretty simple. You bung in a shield, a fuel scoop and then roll it in cargo racks.
For any other big ship, though, there's so many slots, and so many possibilities, that you can waste a heap of time and effort getting it right.

Here's my Corvette: https://s.orbis.zone/62o-

I'd suggest spending quite a bit of time playing with Coriolis or EDSY before actually buying/fitting/engineering any modules on your ship in-game.

May I present to you the 1Billion Manowar Corvette https://s.orbis.zone/62qm she will strip the shields and armour of a Sidewinder in 2 sec`s.
Imperial cutter (stock AI) shields will last 17 and armour 10 sec`s, High engineered would last 10 min, and 59 seconds on the armour.

This was based off your template.

Shields: (4pips) Thermo: 23659 | Kinetic: 19189 | Explosive: 27632 | Absolute: 8864
Armour: Thermo: 8541 | Kinetic: 8475 | Explosive: 8262 | Caustic: 5093 | Absolute: 4838
Jump Range just under 20Ly.
All weapons LongRange turrets, Sensors just over 8k.

Not a PvP loadout but More PvE, Just a few more changes in the Weapon Department you will have one Tough Cookie 🍪 against the Bug`s

Anyhoo have a great night 🙀

My eyes bleed seeing those two made-for-class-7-SCB-slots underused with c5 guardian stuff. Urgh.
The single (or rather dual) biggest difference from Vette to Conda are the two additional c7 slots.
Put SCBs in it. Feel like invincible Superman

See, that is the hidden dilemma of the 'vette.

It's like those 2x C7 slots were put there specifically for SCBs and if you don't want to use SCBs you find that almost everything else you might want to fit is C5 or lower.
I mean, I suppose you could put a 7A fuel-scoop in there but the 'vette's only got a 32t fuel tank so a 5A scoop is plenty.
Alternatively, maybe you could put a 7D fighter hangar in there and fire SLFs at enemies like missiles.

I woulld have been quite happy fitting a 3A collector to my 'vette but there was a C7 slot empty, so a 7A collector went in. 🤷‍♂️

Why? Because she is.

I got mine and currently retrofitted into decomissioned warmachine, which is mothballed cargo freighter. It must feel weird for station workers to observe me landing.

  • Oi, mate. Loot at 'er. Annuder kombat wannabe, showin' off.
  • Ye, void be dammed. We 'ere shufflin' biowaste and dey just fly those fancy big ships.

Me: unloading 500t of medicines.

I also fitted a 7A collector lol. It feels wrong and yet, so right. Mat collecting behemoth is what it is.

Or a 7A fuel-scoop and a 7C fuel tank :p

I guess it depends...

If you don't find use for a very offensive, massively armoured and most heavily shielded BattleShip that still turns on a dime with good Pips Management.... I guess heavy-duty Combat just isn't on the list.

It clearly isn't a racing boat to do Canyon runs with Imperial Couriers or FdLs + Mambas - but then no large Ship really is. It's not what these Vessels do.
(onboard SLFs, however, can close that speed gap a little for what it's worth)

That's not a bad way of thinking. (y)

For me, it's kind of like when you're trying to outfit an exploration ship, though, where there's enough slots to fit all the different toys you need but not enough slots for all the toys and a cargo rack to synth' limpets into - which is why I think limpet controllers should contain limpets as ammo'... but that's a whole other topic.

It'd certainly be a good idea to bung an extra tank in a 'vette, thus making a bigger scoop more useful too, but I want to have a Collector for scooping any nice' mat's which means I need a cargo-rack too... and suddenly there aren't enough slots for all the toys I want.
Bloody 'vette doesn't have enough slots! 😕

I think we're all quietly living in fear of the day when FDev get around to making NPCs smart enough to run away when they're outmatched.

One of the reasons I have long-range laser turrets on my 'vette is for the times when I spot an enemy disappearing off into the distance.
I can target something like an iCourier or Eagle that's 5km away, start my turrets shooting at it and it'll turn around and fly back to engage me.
Cos that's obviously the smart thing to do, right?!

The Corvette is more manoevrable than other ships of its class, quite impressively so once A Rated.

I like mine. It has two class 4 efficient beam lasers and makes things dead.

It's the ultimate in an armed and dangerous delivery mission runner (so long as you only go to large pads, that is). Those class 7 slots? Two cargo bays and a shield generator. Excellent PI harvester, too. Engineered to the nines, so it's even more quick, agile, and deadly. Even can sort of jump ok now.

It can hold its own in any CNB, HazRez or CZ.. PVE only, not currently tuned for fighting Thargoids nor PVP.

Because you hate flying the Anaconda for the hanging wires and fun super cruise handling. The Cutter is not much better as it takes around 1ly for a simple u-turn and if you are not careful instead of drifting elegantly into Jameson Memorial you end up at Jaques. The T-10 is ....... just a meme. So what is left?

The Corvette.

That being said, lately I like the Anaconda for combat better. Much more variety in weapons load outs, the little shield with lots of SCB-backup is enough for most situations and I still can jump 25ish ly easily. I don't mind the cables and the damage model just helps ma immerrrsion then I come back from battle.

I was late getting on the Corvette bandwagon. In fact I was in the middle of a thread saying I won't get any of the big 5 (Cutter. Corvette, T-9, T-10 and Anaconda) after some not so pleasant experiences with the Cutter and T-9. But the sale happened and I thought it was hypocritical of me to discount the Corvette having not flown it so I tried it - and it suddenly became my most used ship. I have not flown my Python since the purchase, I have found the Corvette to be the best mission running going, luckily for me there are still enough missions to stations only to give me a good choice. NPC interdictions no longer concern me, well they do but now in a different way. I now hang around waiting for the 'Incoming Enemy Alerts' as those Deadly Anaconda's pay nice, the bonus is a great bonus and the mats they drop are very welcome. All this whilst still hauling 400T of mission cargo.

Yep, I am a convert :D

We discussed this ship in December also: some good points made in this thread ...., so much so, I actually worked my way up the ranks and bought one! I'll use it later when I've completed its armory and engineering.

Well if we're talking large pad ships, the Imperial Clipper is quite good for that. I have a lightweight one that boosts at 642 and I can assure you it's a barrel of laughs in canyons. Also terrifying because it does drift a bit at those speeds, you have to constantly be thinking about 10 seconds ahead of where you are 😁

Yessir, I was giggling stupidly, flying in a rather steep canyon in my newly built Clipper speedster...until...I wasn't thinking quite far enough ahead of where I was. Oops...

First ship I've lost in a very long time. It was fun though. :D
