Sharks in general don't feed on human's, that is to say that they don't deliberately target us to eat. That said, with only a mouth which contains a lot of teeth, they can only inspect just what we are by tasting; And that's were the issue is. Sharks generally will taste a human only once, on occasion there will be more than one shark and thus multiple taste, it's not like one does and tells the rest we taste like poopoo. In the the tasting process which comes in the form of a bite, will cause major damage and or death because of the bite causing one to bleed out first.

One must never forget that unlike on land where everything has major and some minor preferences.EVERYTHING in the ocean's is ready willing and able to eat everything in the oceans. Ironically the most dangerous thing in the ocean to us and other life forms is actually the Box Jellyfish (Chironex Fleckeri). They are so small and almost invisible. There tentacles can cause death in a matter of a few minutes. Though mostly present in tropical water's, they are adapting to more frigid water's and thus have extended to other area's where we enter the water.

I retired and moved to Mazatlan Mexico, though I did a lot of research prior to moving here, I somehow over looked the fact that the Box Jellyfish is a very prevalent and constant issue to the area's water. The water off Mazatlan are a constant is never changing 72 degree's and the box Jellyfish seem to prefer it here vs over anywhere else. One can walk along the beach and see them washed up on shore sometimes in great numbers, all of which are still deadly until such time as the sun completely cooks them. At a couple of weeks shy of 71, and not wanting to die until the total solar eclipse in a couple of year (last thing on bucket list) I never go in the ocean!
Reminds me of a joke:

A dad-shark is teaching his son-shark how to hunt.
"...and when comes to humans, what you want to do is circle around one very slowly, making sure your dorsal fin is clearly visible at all times and occasionally nibble on their legs before you go for the kill."
"But why dad? Can't I just eat them right away like fish?"
"Well, do you really want to eat them with all their excrements INSIDE?"

Malta? That list of safest places was a joke, just like most lists compiled to say this place is better than that, the world is doomed if we don't do this or that, etc. They are created by either donkey's or for purely propaganda purposes.

The "safest" place is anywhere that you aren't too crowded, have plenty of supplies to allow you to stay home for a few weeks and can reach medical help under your own power if absolutely necessary, and there are millions of places that fit that description.

The safest place will be where the virus started to spread. All survivors there are immune and nobody spreads it around anymore.

Wuhan is the safest place on Earth right now.

I think there are cases of people getting infected a second time in Japan.
Its not 100% confirmed but could be either an issue with detection methods or a new aspect of the virus we have yet to understand.

That we know of. With a dramatic shortage of testing kits and the virus traveling the globe far earlier than is being widely reported, how would we have even the vaguest idea of what the real numbers were?
I guess the numbers should be multiplied by 10 ? 100 ? 1000 ? More ?

We would just be guessing. It's fairly certain that the actual numbers are far higher than what's been reported, though. I wouldn't be surprised if over a million or more people have contacted it without even knowing that it wasn't the flu or a bad cold.

Possible among the 8 billion humans on the Earth.

Well, on the bright side, the number of unreported cases is most probably much higher than the number of unreported (or mis-diagnosed) deaths, which brings the mortality rate of the virus way down.

Interesting side note: has anyone else noticed how news from Wuhan has virtually dried up over the last couple of weeks?

I stayed at home watched TV and got a food delivery isn't really news. I listened to a radio interview with a guy there this morning, he said its very boring indeed and along with all his neighbours he's looking forward to being able to go out again.

If that's the case it would be great if the news organizations around the rest of world would make that clear. Media in America is determined to be as melodramatic as possible with no stories of recovery where it began.

Media will always go for the drama. Wuhan stopped being interesting once the spread stopped growing there and there are more interesting hotspots from their perspective.
I wouldn't really expect good news from them. Good news don't generate panic and money.
