It is absolutely unbelieveable how there STILL are people who, if someone points the desastrous that happened in the US, and the extremely dire State the country is in at the moment re SARS - CoV -2, can only, insitinctively react with "WahWah Antiamerican!!!" .
We are WARNING you, and we are very CONCERNED about your Nation . We FEAR for you . Can you get that in your Head, please, please, pwetty please ?
Dude,
Please don't worry about those of us from the USA.
People have made mistakes in EVERY country, but no country has made any that they can't fix.
The worst thing that's going to happen here in America is a recession due to so many working from home and canceling travel plans.
Worse case scenario, if no action was taken and everyone in the USA got Covid, we could lose 3.3 million people. While that would be horrible, and much higher than the 2.5 million we lose each year, it would be mostly people who are already out of school or work due to compromised immune systems. So even if nothing was being done, the effects wouldn't effect the ability of Americans to work through it.
On the bright side, we'll likely see many fewer deaths from the virus and flu this year than we see in our worst flu seasons.
And more good news is the government is streamlining approving unemployment benefits for those who do lose their jobs.
And while many stores are out of some commodities, as long as manufacturers keep making products we're going to be fine.
Having visited thousands of manufacturing facilities in the last thirty years, I can tell you most don't need to gather employees into large groups to keep plants running.
And our manufacturing is widely distributed around the country.
Most don't even realize they have large bakeries, paper mills, and other manufacturers locally. Well, unless they work there.
You know, Americans are like siblings who argue a lot but are also fiercely loyal and protective of each other.
We are one of the few countries in the world that is mostly made up immigrants from every corner of the earth.
tldr - We will be fine, so please don't worry about us, we're not as divided and incompetent as the news media portrays us.
PS - Honestly, the biggest issue right now is losing Tom Brady to the Bucs ;-)
I think the governments know things and do not inform us.
In many countries there are more and more restrictions.
These binding measures means that the situation is much more serious than officially announced ?
I've had the same thoughts.
It seems odd to shut down a large portion of the USA for a flu virus that mostly effects older folks.
I would have though it better to just ask those vulnerable to self quarantine?
But on the other hand, learning how to mitigate the spread of this virus will definitely help if a more deadly virus comes our way.
I tend to think of the current situation as a tidal wave. It's gonna sweep in, do it's damage and then recede for a year. Next year, it will sweep in again, do less damage but only because there will be less to damage this time, and then recede again. Lather, rinse, repeat until there's little left to damage and then it will just become part of the "ocean" of flues that already plague us each season. Unhappy news for those who are most vulnerable to this, but a sad reality just the same. :/
I hear that, but we should have a vaccine and treatments next year so things should go smoother ;-)
