It doesn't look like one. Maybe someone with a pic of a Guarding skimmer can post it. Also, Guardian skimmer missiles are fired straight up into the air and hit you from above.

Doesn't look like one because it isn't one.

It's a human made skimmer, that is just called a guardian.

It has nothing to do with the Guardian alien race.

That guardian is just a big skimmer.

The Guardian skimmers are called Sentinels.

Yep... that's a normal skimmer variant, of which there are multiple. There are:

Stingers
skimmers
guardians
Goliaths

Stingers are little homing landmines which get in your face and explode.
Skimmers have mcs or pulse lasers, and may have shields.
Guardians have seeker missiles and usually shields
Goliaths are chunky and have missiles and plasma repeaters(?)

It has nothing to do with the guardians, being the ancient alien race out towards the regor sector. As mentioned, those Alien "skimmers" are called sentinels.

I see those frequently. I guess it just depends on what you are doing. I have been doing a lot of illegal surface hacking both for missions and independently. Also around the supply caches that are seemingly randomly placed at times or mining installations too. You just gotta know where to look.

You can shoot all types of missile,mine and torpedo down with regular weapons. It's usually easier to just have a point defence turret though.
You can also use mines as bombs when in a gravity well.
