I think the era of dirt cheap air travel is probably over. Greta will be pleased.

I don't know really, it depends on how tourism and movement return I suppose. Ryanair will always be over the EU, but this indeed might be the catalyst (along with working away from the office / indirect working) that changes public perception.

I don't know much about her aside from her stunning good looks and people saying she's as nice on the inside as the out. Has there been any word on her condition or is it complete radio silence at the level? I have to believe that in their age group and overall health they should be fine.
Sophie's fine. She has top care and is not in the age bracket of concern. She's been Instagraming and Tweeting about national efforts to flatten the curve. And she is a lovely person, although she kinda goes nuts with the Bollywood outfits when she's abroad.

So does her husband.
He did a PowerPoint presentation on how badly that trip went. It was kinda funny. Lots of pictures of him in traditional Indian outfits standing with Indian people in suits and jeans talking about how they were all "very underdressed". Self-deprecation is one of his strong suits.

Covid-19 vaccines and treatments are popping up everywhere. We are testing them all on a daily basis and we have several good candidates to go into production. But it will take at least a year to manufacture and distribute.

Everything is going according to plans. Leaders knew about the Fibonacci level since 2008 (to 2020) on the US stock market hit around New Year (the real reason stock markets are correcting). So they shorted the markets and prepared.

We are on top of everything since Nov 2016.
And thanks to Nov 2016, we will be able to handle every catastrophe that the anti-Nov 2016 people are trying to inflict/incite/blow up.

It will be a wonderful Nov 2020 -> Nov 2024.

We are ready to inject our massive income from the shorts, it will be glorious.

Say what now, Nostradamus?

Are you not the LOLZworthy who said that it would all just go away, and the stock market was strong 3 weeks ago?
Repeating the line from the crooks who were selling as they lied the pump-n-dump-chumps into buying?

Now you have more wonderful predictions!! You come up with that stuff yourself?

Gimme a break.

Unrestricted travel has proven its dangers, so tightened regulation and medical screening might be a thing in the future the cost of which would obviously be passed on to the customer. The budget airlines are the ones running closest to the red so they are most likely to fold during the pandemic.

Their replacements might go for individual profitability above mass transit in cattle class.

A fair few popular tourist destinations regret ever having catered to the less well off as they've squandered paradise on yobs, which makes the bigger spenders stay away in a vicious circle. Hotels going bust could also be used as an excuse to gentrify destinations as well as travel itself.

Idle speculation.

It won't just be the little budget airlines folding their tents. All airlines will be out of business barring a government bailout.

Oh, I have no doubt bailout of airline industry will happen. They started begging a week ago in many countries. The socialist in me is no fan: you want tax payers' money? Sure, but then the tax payers own you. You want to be a private corporation again? Sure, just pay the people their money back. No free lunch for massive corporations while the small businesses and employees get shafted.

When it comes to being prepared for the event of major civil unrest or something along the lines...lets say, cicvilisation as we know it breaks down, supply chains gone, no water and electricity in most places etc...I thought about the Problem and implications for a while .

I thought, what sense does it make to have and keep some kind of miniature version of "civilization" as it were running ? The masses of people running around looking for ANY kind of food, shelter, water, comfort, you name it will likely be...masses .

So...get moving is my plan . Leave the admittedly rather small city I live in behind, get away from people, as fast as possible . What I can carry and what I know is what I need to be able to live with . Keep moving, never stay at a place for longer than absolutely nevessary . Do not build a shelter or hut . Do not do anything that makes any hungercrazed maniac and his buddies aware of you . As far as the rest of the World is concerned, disappear, live off the land, leave no traces as much as possible .

There are people on this planet who cross pretty wild areas for days and days on foot, half naked, only with what they can carry in one hand, their mouth and hair . These people are the ones to learn from imho.

I am the source. From me everything comes.

Except the virus of course.

Freight should be OK provided they can demonstrate decent procedures for keeping loads and personnel decontaminated. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the current flight bans mean commercial passenger flights only.

There's an easy test coming up soon, we always get an Easter parcel from Mrs Stigbob's mum with delicious foreign delicacies in it. If it doesn't show up then freight is also grounded.

Edit : or I suppose I could google it, no fun in that though.

In other news, our largest supermarket chain experienced some IT issue and will be poorly stocking supermarkets, or not at all, for the next few days.

Oops.

My 'sensible' plan, assuming I'm in the city.

1. Fill bath/all recepticles with water.
2. Go firm for 30 days, wait for the initial madness to die down.
3. Continue to monitor situation using hand powered radio.
4. Move on foot to either government advised location, or a suitable rural location.

1) Do not store water in an open container ( like a bathtub ) .
2) People will very likely come to your door and break it in .
3) Make no sound .
4) Do not go where many other people will likely go .

I was thinking more along the lines that the airlines as we know them will not exist on their own merits after this hashes out. Without massive governmental intervention they will simply go bankrupt and that will be the end of commercial air travel. We won't let that happen, obviously, but propping them back up is going to be a costly pursuit. Every country is probably struggling with the same issues right now: how do we keep our economies and commercial industries solvent during the crisis, and how do we put it all back together once it "ends."

I predict that banks in America will offer to put a freeze on all mortgage/loan payments this coming week, for instance, and we already know that several massive stimulus packages are being prepped to put cash in the hands of every American to help cover the cost of living, as well as a payroll stimulus to keep the various workforces of business medium to large sized going. That's just for starters to calm people down; obviously the road to economic recovery is going to be complicated and bumpy even in a best case scenario.

1. You can drink stuff like that up to about a week, and that's without using purification tablets/straining/boiling it (delete as available).
2. Only reason they're likely to break in is if they know your there. Most people will be doing 'the great panic' rush to get out the city at that stage.
3. Agree lights off, away from windows, dig in.
4. Agree to an extent. I operate on the principle that government will still try to maintain control, so heading where they are isn't a bad idea (Although, do it off the beaten path).

My sensible plan for acute civil unrest and looters in particular is to pile their bodies in the front yard with a sign that says "These guys were looters."

1) You can loose your entire water supply due to an unfortunate mishap if its in an open container .
2) People will not break in doors/windows you name it for you...but for what they think they may find in there . Like food, or water .
3) Good .
4) Any place that collects a largely helpless crowd will be a breeding ground for violence . Either internally, or from the outside .
