Engineers Ship Builds & Load Outs Unlocking JURI ISHMAAK

Since I am mostly harmless as combat rating, I will not likely face anything above stock enemies.
Um, about that...
Again. What is your combat rating and how much engineering do you have?
Let me tell you a story. So, I bought a vulture. Mostly A rated it, no engineering. I was not above novice in combat. Keep all this in mind. Anyway, I took my new vulture to a combat zone. Why? Honestly, I can't remember. Anyway, took her in, and boy did I have a hard time that day. Pretty sure the activities of that day had me see the rebuy screen in my vulture more than in any other ship I've owned, before or since. I started wondering if I had been lied to. Everything I had heard said that the vulture was a great little combat ship, but I had had fewer problems with combat with my Cobra.

Then, some time later (so my combat rating and internals were the same if not better) I headed into a High RES to do some bounty hunting in that same vulture. And let me tell you something, the difference was night and day. Ships that gave me a hard time in a CZ, I could smoke like a Virginia ham in a RES site. I've never seen a rebuy screen in a RES, and I've made a good bit of money from them. I ended up asking a friend of mine who has played elite for much longer than I have about this, and he confirmed that my experience wasn't uncommon and said that enemies in CZs often have engineering.

In CZ, you aren't bounty hunting against pirates; you're in a warzone fighting professional soldiers(sometimes professional soldiers of fortune, but still). The moral of my story is this: if people who have flown in CZs are saying that the NPCs in CZs are nasty SoBs and unlike the NPC enemies anywhere else, believe those people.

CZ may not be the place to start.

Target Only - prob best overall. It means that only the ship you target gets hit, not any police forces you accidentally hit (difference between no crime no penalty into SC and back out and bounty & notoriety if turrets open up after police turn red). In CZ or multi fighting means can attract more enemies onto you before youre ready or you don't kill one because youre firing on 3 at once. Best to target only and finish one at a time Ive found.

Nav Beacons - Res Sites up to High Res Sites will have police backup to help out, Haz Res wont, CZ ships are bullet sponges, hull tanks, that just take ages to kill. KWS works well at Nav Beacons and Res Sites if you want it.

Wing up or put out for multi crew for easier kills and quicker rank, maybe in a PG?

Now this is another interesting one.. Old threads indicate that this happens, Newer threads seem to say that the DEV's have fixed this and the only way you get in trouble is if you hit a good guy while they are targeted.

@ I started the thread say I would be in wing in PG..

Yes I heard the same but in practice in my experience (ie anecdotally) it doesnt always work. Theres more leeway and sometimes you get a warning but sometimes they'll fly in front of a MC barrage for example and don't just get 'hit' once so maybe its that type of thing. Nothing worse than seeing the police ship appear just after the PA have fired, slowly drifting aimlessly into the path off fire and taking it full bore.

Its supposed to be something like fire at a ship not targeted = fine, firing at a targeted ship = bounty, but obviously theres some sort of damage threshold as well or something else at play. Can sometimes use this to open hatches on installations with one shot and no bounty, other times I get a bounty so not sure whats going on.

I say after turn red because I can usually jump out and back in without a bounty or even fine at this stage, or maybe that's just killing PP enemies and police not liking me, but the 'attack anybody' choice means they all get hit repeatedly as soon as they don't like you giving no chance to get away without bounty. Similar in CZ if accidentally hit the friendly and suddenly everyone is red. Im gonna have to test it now see if there is a reliable point at which you can safely break off without bounty.

But overall the DPS is so offset that in my experience I need all guns targeted on one ship to get and keep the shields and hull down, mainly in a T9 though so maybe a better ship can keep on target with main weapons more often. I also use an MC with the laser build just co the hull can take too long, just to help out at the end.

Attack anybody is good for attracting the whole wing of weaker ships or gathering more before they fly away then switch to target to kill one by one. Same way lot of people use the NPC fighter.

I misread the wing as you on 2 computers with an alt flying both ships at the same time somehow, if actual players involved then my bad, everyones a winner if they can hit the target before it blows up.

Interesting build.

(1) if it looks like this is happening, that is when I use the "BUG OUT" VA Macro and BUG OUT into at least SC.
I have another Macro named "REGROUP"
Play sound, 'C:\Users\User\Videos\Elite Dangerous\VA responses\aye aye captain.wma'
Execute command, 'Pioneer ahead flank' (and wait until it completes) ---- a BOOST that shifts 4 pips to ENG and 2 PIP to SHIELD
Pause 7 seconds
Execute command, 'Pioneer flip' (and wait until it completes) Quite complex one that has a second BOOST combined with a temp Flight assist OFF 180 deg PITCH up and setting Back 2/3 speed.
Pause 6 seconds
Execute command, 'Pioneer all guns' (and wait until it completes) Resets the PIPS to 3.5/.5/2 so I am ready to fight if someone decides to chase me.
Play sound, 'C:\Users\User\Videos\Elite Dangerous\VA responses\you have the conn sir.wma'

(2) I have no intention of trying to chase something down.

The updated build: Forgot I had the Guardian Booster.

NO. Still no thermal weapons. I like having WEAPONS NEVER DRAIN while I have lots of pips to the shields.

Regarding your build: i would drop the ECM add another shield booster - it would be great if you could engineer those and the shield gen
Also, if you plan to do the CZ more than once, i would advise to drop any module that is non-combat.
As in: replace the fuel scoop and the guardian fsd booster with hrp, another mrp and guardian shield boosters.
something like this.
Notice the improvements to shields and hull.
You should also do something about the multicannons - they do crap damage to shields.
Even g1 engineering will allow you to put some incendiary experimental and make them efficient against shields.

One other approach would be to drop the Pythons and use Kraits Mk2. You can easily transfer modules from Pythons to Kraits - they have the same internals.
And with Kraits you can have some laser SFL to add to your damage output vs shields

You'd be amazed at how many people have to 'grind' 50 markets :)
Really? When I came to unlock I had a few left to do. Got some rare goods, jumped away from my usual stomping ground and hawked them around stations selling a couple at each one until I got the email. As far as other stuff I have done probably the least grindy thing.

Doh! Just realised Lei Cheung does DSS to G5! He is very easy to unlock. Trade in 50 different markets and give him 200 gold.
Humnnnn,
I can unlock THE DWELLER by paying him the cash I didn't have when I was running stuff doing planetary salvage.
I am Pioneer and I know how to mine so MARSHA HICKS should be easy.
I may have already traded in 50 markets. Is there a way to tell??

Codex - Commander - Stats - Economy? / Trading? - Market Network

Yep, 33.33% of the advertised game and yet some people find it a grind to actually do the stuff to unlock the Engineers. Ive done most of it by accident (playing the game) long before the Engineers and requirements show up in my inbox

Yes there is a way. Right hand panel, go the engineers section and click on The Dweller. It will tell you what requirements you have met and what still needs to be done. As cash is the easiest thing to get I warmed to the fact he didn’t want any fancy stuff, just hand over the money.

What I need to figure out is how many markets I have traded at.

It is looking like I will never find out if this build would have gotten me the 100,000 Combat Vouchers.
But it got real old being told that the only way top get them was to go in ENGINEERED. Or Go buy another expensive ship . Did anyone even look at the Build OFFENSE PROFILE against a stock Imperial Clipper?

What I need to figure out is how many markets I have traded at.
IIRC when you check the engineer it will tell you. I seem to remember I was at 38 out of 50 when I started unlocking him. Same with Juri it tells you how many combat bonds you have already, so you can work out how many more you need.

I think folks were giving you advice to make it easier for you, not telling you it's 'the only way'. Seriously, it's been a week. If you think you're on to something then go do it. You don't have to listen to what we say, and who knows you may be cutting through them like a hot knife. The folks who are replying have done CZs and are trying to help you enjoy it. If you go there and get smoked you won't. You've nothing to lose aside from a rebuy. We all had to learn. Go to a CZ, sign on to one side or the other and let 'er rip. Let us know how it goes.

Iirc there's a statistic for it in the Codex

True, instead of trying out the advises, or at least try out your own build, you are still looking at some numbers on a website and prove to be resistant to said advices :D
While I have decided to redirect to The Dweller and take that path, I am mystified that I keep getting advise to do pure long term engineered combat builds just to try and get 100,000 Combat Vouchers while over in the Newcomers Forum newbies are still being told that as soon as they get in their stripped down Sidewinder they should run immediately run to a CZ and make a MILLION CR per hour.
Are they being sent on suicide missions??
EDIT AND NO ONE IS TELLING THEM TO DO ANY ENGINEERING OR EVEN BUY UPGRADED ARMOR OR ANYTHING?
