why i quit playing elite.

well not that anyone cares. but yea im done with this game. the next update i waited a year for has completely trashed the game for me. i dreamed big lol hoping to move my carrier across the galaxy. grinding out mats so i can power the ships fsd wouldn't be so bad, but grinding the 1 billion carrier upkeep per week is really horrible. that means a solo player like be would never be able to own one. i would have had to dedicate all my time just to keep the damn ship a float. i made over 800m once when i filled my whole type 9 with ltd's but that took me 14 hours of straight mining and by the end of it i wanted to shoot myself in the face. I said it as i was cashing in "ill never do that again" LOL . with the way carriers are going to be set up its clear to me that there meant for a squadron and not for solo players. honestly i went from playing everyday for a year or 2 to just playing once a month. so its a pretty easy choice to just uninstall. once i bought every ship and fully engineered them i started exploring the center of the galaxy. but even that got way way too boring more then anything. every system looks exactly the same just with a different color painted on them. for some people thats good enough , new color schemes on planets is all they need. but i cant, there is a huge lack of just about everything that happens in space on a regular basis. the constant boringness and lack of space phenomenon makes it way to unrealistic at times. well have fun . ill try not to let the hatch hit me in the ass on the way out.

I know the feeling, lack of gameplay and the mini games and loading screens are getting boring.

Any boixes I'm missing?

Game done as far as I'm concerned, the fleet carriers had a lot of promise but pfft.

funny thing, my op made me think of. the very first day i played the game i seen a ship in supercruise and tried to chase it down because i thought it was a comet LOL........ then i googled comets in elite dangerous. Five minutes later i was let down because i found out COMETS like most things in space dont exist in elite dangerous.........because ya thats realistic.

When people ask for your stuff, make sure to say "No!" I've quit this game half-a-dozen times, and I'm sure I'll do it again... and yet here I am! 🤷
ill probably come back 5 years from now to see what space legs look like in an extremely outdated game by then LOL. when other space games offer everything elite has and everything its missing.

A billion a week would have killed carriers for everyone instantly. ~C10M makes far more sense, thanks for that. Now if they can just make the jump sequence look more worthy of the carrier and less like an after thought then it would be fun to watch.

well thats good, that makes me feel slightly better.....

Like 100 times better? :)

Even then I'm not going for one, and anyway I've only got 1.3 billion in cash. To buy one it seems you need to be playing continually, and I take long breaks when I burn out. Like months on end.

But for our PG it seems like a pretty cool thing to have, with all of the thirty or so pilots pitching in. Only the most dedicated solo pilots are going to do well with a carrier I think.

So let me ask, with upkeep one hundred times lower than you thought, does your plan to leave change?

no it dose not, im happy that its alot easier on everyone to get one.it really is 100 times better then what i previously thought. but id still be in the negatives eventually if i buy one because i dont really want to play that much anymore. when i log in i have nothing to do and get board very quick. i was hoping the carriers would for me change that, but now that i know i wont be buying one. im off until legs and base building are implemented. id rather play other games to be honest.

That's cool mate, happy trails. Taking a break when you burn out is the best medicine. If there's little in it for you no reason to hang around waiting for it. Come back in a few months and see if the fire has been re-stoked.

I play Elite in four-month chunks it seems, at high burn, then take at least that much time away to do other things, and when I come back, there's new stuff and I like it again :)

The money is no problem at all. I made 1.7billion in an afternoon last week mining LTDs. A single trip will get you enough money to run a fleet carrier for a year. get the money now while you can, like the other 27000 players in Borann.

You could even say it was an April Fools joke....
Wait! Does this mean we're gonna get swimming pools after all?!

I'm playing less and less every year now and had been at it for years. Might give the Beta a try just to see.

Another post per I'm tired with the game and won't play it anymore. I'll bet $10.00 USA the OP shows up when the Beta Fleet Carriers launch. Any takers?

I'll keep playing until either my heart or the servers fail but worried the game may be in it's descendancy

With all the Covid-19 issues, lockdown with extra spare time and the FC update due I expected to see Cmdr friends who haven't played in months (after the explo update or DWII ended) or years to suddenly reappear.... but not one has checked the game out again.

Plus will new players be interested in purchasing a game that is over 5 years old? I worry for the future of the game :(
