I wanted to share these pictures with a colleague from the forum, and anyone else here that might find them of interest. It is carnivore collection that I worked on and now resides in a private collection. All the models are anatomically correct and scale with another. The models were created in the scale of 1, an inch to a foot, since it allows for maximum inclusion of details without the sculpture becoming unmanageable. During the many years i worked in the zoo exhibit planning and design industry, I created many models of significant pieces that needed to completed in full scale, but my passion was always creating animal sculptures, it is truly not very different from what the developers in Frontier do, we all just use different tools. All models start with a wire skeleton, clay is then added, and the animals are fully sculpted and painted, in other collections I have even included materials that simulate fur to create that added element of realism. The pictures just show a small selection of the collection, they were a total of 192 models when the collection was completed. It is called Carnivores of the World, and I have been working on an additional collection representing primates. My goal is to eventually cover a small portion of the animal kingdom. I have completed over a thousand sculptures representing mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, alongside a significant number of plant species and natural landscape scenes.
