🦙 Developer Journal: South America Pack🦙

I am genuinely excited about this DLC and update and I’m really looking forward to playing.

But... whilst I accept there is a wide range of motivations for playing from total fantasy to super realistic, it seems quite weird to have something like a golden path when we don’t have some very basic pieces of zoo building materials like varied mesh panels for example. I’m trying to build a small, realistic zoo. And many basic materials are simply missing, seriously limiting the possibilities. At the moment it seems like the game is definitely slanted to the theme park and adventure end of the scale.

This is constructive criticism - I am happy about the pack and think it represents good value with some lovely animals - but I really, really hope we will get some pieces that are at the more practical and realistic end of the scale in the not too distant future.

So, I'm not the only one who has, let's say, mixed, thoughts about that.
That was actually a sound of appreciation, as it might fit with some places in Königsfreuden (my current main project).
I understand people who want basic stuff before this first. If it wasn't for Königsfreuden, I wouldn't be excited for this as well

Well, a golden path is probably not on top of the "most necessary items"-list, but in general I believe that many of the new objects will be generic enough to be used in totally different contexts. I use many of the existing items outside of their "intended" theme. That's also why I'm not too concerned in the "things get too focused on themed attractions"-debate. A larger variety of building items can also be useful for the more realistic approach of many players. (This doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate more backstage stuff for example, but I still think the building pieces will also make the habitats itselves more interesting).

Whoops, my bad. 😅

Then again, even though I don't really mind the "thematic approach" of the DLC, I still think a golden path is a little bit "over the top".

Hello,
I am very curious about the golden path.

The ice path that came free of charge for everyone inspired me.
Of course, this is not necessarily something for the Otto normal consumer zoo, but I am very curious whether the new route (in places) fits my kites.

I just think it's great that the paths are for everyone.

I will buy the DLC packs after a while, just now it's just not worth it. Have too little space and can hardly build anyway. (PC repair will still take time)

But with ways I can test around.

I assume that at some point more natural paths will appear in the DLCs.

This is such a great treat! Reading these Developer Journal entries are always so interesting to me. The best update news for me is that landscaping and improvements surrounding Staff buildings will mitigate the negative effect on guests. Previously, I worked so hard on my zoos to achieve zero complaints only to be foiled time and again. It really soured the game for me (a tad of perfectionism here, I think) so now I can go back to playing and feel like I'm achieving something. I am also supremely excited about the South American aspect and can't wait to meet these new animals! Thank you so very much for listening to your game players and, most of all, for your willingness to continue making it fun for everyone via select-able options. I am so impressed with the entire Planet Zoo crew! :)
