Why only 4 nonrefreshable animals in market in sandbox

Hi,
I love playing sandbox but what bothers me that in the market there are only 4 animals of every species (2 males and 2 females) and usually have terrible or mediocre stats + you have to wait 10+ minutes for them to refresh. Why cannot we have more? Or at least if there was no countdown to be able to refresh them. I don't want to adopt 20 males only to find out one that I want + 5 that are sick and I have to put them into quarantine...
Also how in sandbox is hardet to get albinos? It's sandbox, we should have them in the market all the time. If I want to challenge myself I would play franchise..
Thank you

This is a highly-requested feature. Currently the fastest way to refresh the sandbox market is to adopt all the animals you don't want and then sell them from your trade centre.

As for albinos, I don't really see how it relates to a challenge. In real life a zoo would go out of its way not to adopt a mutant animal if it can help it. While I agree that sometimes it would be nice to find the odd albino in sandbox (so far I've found two on the market, a boa constrictor and a titan beetle), I don't really mind their absence as much because I prefer my zoos to be realistic.

Hopefully in sandbox they become easier to obtain. It's come up in a different thread that breeding albinos in sandbox (and challenge mode I think) is probably completely up to chance instead of genetics. Meaning if you do get an albino you gotta breed thousands of offspring to get another one, meanwhile in franchise you're almost guaranteed another albino as long as one or both of the parents are one. Why it's this way in free-for-all mode and not in the online mode is beyond me

I assume that this is exactly the same in Sandbox. The difference is that there are lots of Franchise players that have specialized in breeding albinos and the market is flooded with them. A lot of non-albino animals therefore carry the albino gene, and the likelihood of having normal parents give birth to albino offspring is drastically - and completely unrealistically - increased. Personally, I am not that keen on albinos, and I really dislike the fact that I end up with so many albinos in my zoos.

Instead of profiting from the many hours of breeding invested by others, you have to do it yourself in Sandbox. I agree, though, that Frontier could change the frequency of albinos offered in the market somewhat, but please not even close to the frequency you get in Franchise. Albino animals should always be a rare exception and therefore a pleasant surprise to discover one.

It's sandbox, I don't want it to be realistict. I want it pretty. That's why it's sandbox 🤷‍♀️
Franchise, challenge and career are for realism and I get it here.
At least if we could have white tigers and black panthers.

And albinism not related to genetics in sandbox, that's the worst.
Also what is more realistic - to have white tiger or to have zoo full of breeding farms and breed every animal into oblivion only to quickly sell it for cc?

I think there should be an option to make it easier to obtain or even obtain on command in sandbox since...it's sandbox. It could be a selectable setting since there are people who like the realism aspect, but there's also people like me who don't care about realism in sandbox games and just want to mess around. That way it can stay the same for people who want realism, and it can be toggled for those that don't.

I for one, wanted to make a zoo of albino big cats, but for some reason sandbox (the "do whatever you want" mode) wasn't the ideal place to do that. It had to be done in franchise mode instead. Seems pretty strange since...well...it's sandbox.

Sandbox is the only mode in which you can build a realistic zoo. Without turning off animal welfare nothing in the zoo is strictly realistic (you can't plant Lobster Claws in Scotland without a greenhouse, for example, so you need to use temperate/taiga foliage instead, which tropical animals don't like). There's literally no way to build a realistic zoo in Franchise or Career Mode.

That isn't at all a relevant question since neither of those options is realistic in the slightest. A zoo might have white tigers in real life, but they're not going to deliberately breed them if they're a good zoo. Melanistic jaguars are a different story - I'm totally on board with having them be more widely available, because they occur in nature relatively frequently. The melanistic mutation is often naturally selected for in certain subpopulations where it has an advantage. The opposite is true in albinism - it's rare for it to occur naturally at all, and when it occurs in abundance it's almost always because of inbreeding due to population bottlenecks. Zoos don't deliberately inbreed animals because to do so would shrink the gene pool and cause a host of genetic health issues, which is entirely counterintuitive to conservation.

Anyway, if you want albinos, fine. I was merely pointing out that the current difficulty in acquiring them in sandbox is perfectly fine for a game where the idea is building a proper zoo. Melanistic jaguars are a different story.

I could agree with you but not everyone want a proper zoo in sandbox. Some people in some zoo's just want to have fun or have it visually pretty, no matter if it's realistic or not. I have one zoo with zero animals, because I just want to build pretty buildings. The game should not force the player to play the way the game wants. In sandbox everything should be unlock, open, without limits and most importantly - everything avaiable on 100 % at leat in one speciment.
For example in my sandbox Sámova I don't want to breed anyone. I just one to have pretty animals and for them to be the one I bought and once in a while I would allow them to breed ot have cute little babies. But not only with albinos/melanistic animals but also with those with better stats, the game is forcing me to breed them like hell till I get what I want.
I think that stats (genetics) shouldn't be in sandbox at all or there should always be option to buy animals with good stats, and also with melanism/albinism.
Everybody has they way how to play the game. But in sandbox nobody should be limited or punished for their way of playing.

I absolutely want more rare colors for animals in sandbox mode ... albinism, leucistic and melanistic animals ... and more color variation for things like llamas and wolves.
It's disappointing knowing there are rarer colors in the game, but not being able to get them in sandbox mode unless you're really, really lucky. I've love to have a black panther. They aren't that rare in real life, but I can't find them in sandbox mode AT ALL, just the regular spotted jaguars.

I hope there will be 3 options in sandbox
1) Toggle Refreshable Animal Markets (Refresh animal market give new animals)
2) Toggle Perfect Animals (All animals in the animal market will have 100% perfect stat in 4 categories- size, age, fertility and immunity
3) Toggle Albino Animals (All animals in the animal market will be automatically albino animals)

Sandbox normally is access to all features/buildings/research from the start. That's basically it.
And mostly with an option to set difficulty/money/map/opponents

Could they include more albino animals in the market?
or improve the frequency of refreshable animals?
or improve the breeding of albino animals? (the same as in Franchise)
Yes ! Ofcourse. Personally I like it that albino is rare in the game but I fully understand people wanting more albino animals.

Imo those are simple adjustments but I already think sandbox options are quite extensive (especially compared to other games)
To me, sandbox mode doesn't mean a "god" mode for a game, in which you can adjust every aspect of the game.

Basically only play Franchise: Some albino animals have mostly albino offspring but I'm really struggling to get an albino Ostrich baby from 1 of my albino adult male Ostriches. I had the same issue with the African Buffalo, not a single albino baby. Same issue with the peafowl in 1 zoo, while in the other one zoo I had mostly albino offspring
Lions/nile monitors are just albinos all the time.

As it is, you can get albinos quite sure in sandbox, but only if you don't mind to invest some day's work, risking a tendovaginits from releasing some 10.000 normal coloured animals to the wild and forget all about what a zoo should be.

You only need to disable anything about animal care, about 6 - 10 habitats and some starting animals (doesn't matter how they look, but both sex per habitat would be great!). Then you speed up your game at maximum, do something else for 2 -3 hours and then look out for albinos (or melanistic) and put them into storage and decimate your normal coloured ones to prevent crashing the game. Repeat this for a day or two and you get at least 4 - 6 albinistic/melanistic animals.

But what you sadly cannot do: Breed a albinistic/melanistic line with them.

I would absolutely LOVE these options!
