Are Gankers Pushing People Into Solo?

At the risk of sounding argumentative (which i am i admit).

I hate PVP, i am absolutely crap at it, in this game and every other game i have played it in. I love open for the fun interactions with other players, that is why i play in Open and i encourage people to give it a try and not be turned off by the forums overwhelming suggestion that you will ganked the second you poke your head in. Open has more to offer than just PVP.
Well I play in Open and solo depending on situation and whether I want possibility of somebody messing with my plans. Best of both worlds I say. Need to visit somewhere like Deciat. Solo mode on. Do some serious mining, solo mode on. Flying routine flight and not doing anything particularly important, Open is good choice. Wanting to see sometimes silly action, Shinrarta Dhezra in open....especially as if you fly some mean looking ship you can stay as spectator most times :)

You already get a bonus for Open... All that extra fun that all you open advocates say that Solo players would have if they were in Open.
a solo player in open simply realizes he havent skill to counter another brain, and rekt.
anyway i never saw people should play in open. they can stay in solo

Your tolerance of PvP is therefore greater than some others - in that you are prepared to potentially have time wasted in meaningless engagements.
yeah my whole 10 mins of PVP (which i died granted) in over 700 hours was a real bummer. The other 100 or so hours i have spent playing and having fun with other players (in non-pvp activities) helps me get over my 10 mins of "annoyance".

Oh well I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree.

I appreciate what you're saying but people are different and have different tolerances, you may feel a little inconvenienced by getting interdicted and ganked the twice it happened to you but others may feel very differently about the very thought of it, some folks are so scared of the dentist that they never go, others are there for every check up and more to boot, my (now deceased) Uncle Bob was so terrified of having his hair cut that he used to faint.
People are very different from one another.

Kira: Since engineering skill has been secondary of flying whatever is current meta G5 combat machine. Capability cap is so vast that unless G5 pilot is completely ham fisted, and non-engineered pilot is ace-level skipper, there is no question of decent match, but rather other pilot doing instant escape routine.

.... or the Solo player realises that they can enjoy the whole* game without ever playing in Open among those that they may not find to be "fun" to play with, by design.

*: As no game feature is limited to Open and both multi-player game modes are PvP enabled.

Yeap if your going to deciat and your worried (especially if its your first trip) go into solo. To be honest if i was to go to Borann (or whatever its called) then even i would suggest a quick change of mode.

Open is your chance to play with and meet other cmdrs. PVP is a very very tiny part of open if you want it to be (yes there may be places you want to avoid).

And well some people do not have stomach for engineering grind, or regardless of how much they train great ability to do combat. I for examply am such poor pilot that I would get beaten by NPC's if not flying engineered Cutter with tons of shield enforcements added. And I'm not ashamed to admit that :D

The only thing you can't really do in PG and Solo is meet and greet and co-op strangers and make 'new' friends... should you choose

so just because someone isnt good enough we all have to play an easy win game where a player make bilions end game ship and other stuff in about 3 days https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/need-cutter-build-advice-pve-im-a-newbie.540506/

I get beaten by NPC's anyway, as I have no interest in combat in Elite Dangerous I follow one rule, Guns are for shooting Shields are for defence... so you can leggit, if I turn to shoot I'm there longer, so no guns fitted.

Well thats kind of question more towards game developers and people marketing those games. Do you want to make product that is targeted to very very small minority of real afficionados, versus wider audience. Or to be worded simpler, do you as game developer hate money?

Off course you could do game that way. Or try it. Especially if you have a lot of money burn, with little hope for running ever profit.

Not at all - we have this game because it was pitched (over seven years ago) with three game modes, mode mobility and a single shared galaxy state.

If it had been pitched as Open only then it may not have achieved its funding goal - in which case there'd be no game to be arguing about.

I do
The introduction of pan-modal system chat has changed that a bit.
I don't know, I was thinking along the lines of flying 'wing' with a stranger kinda riding shotgun,* I don't think that's possible is it?

* I know it's daft to consider such a thing but in the real world there are kindly strangers as well as wolves.
