The average players are getting hosed

While every other game in the genre are getting FREE updates every few months adding new and exciting content, ED has basically done the opposite. They have removed community goals, removed station rescues, and nerfed PVE piracy to a point it's worthless to do. In the past year and a half we've gotten: 2 modules that average players didn't want, need, or use. Now after 2+ years of delays, you drop fleet carriers that the average player can't afford (and more than half the people that can afford them won't buy them because of the perceptual upkeep). The last "new" ship we got ,the Krait Phantom, was released in 2018, and that was just a cut down version of another ship. We love this game, but it's dying from lack of new content. The next update that will bring us any content is at least 7 months away and we'll have to pay for it. This game has the biggest and best looking universe ever made but it's sterile.

I agree with.... more than half of this post.

I agree, the lack of content for avg player is quite sad. Last thing we really got was the mining and exploration reworks. After that a ship or two. Fdev have introduced so many weapons that are utterly useless, guardian slf, niche at best, on top of letting much of the game just fester in the problems that make them drain players

I think you highlight the problem of doing updates every few months. You need to think about the demographic that will find the content attractive. Ideally you want to add content that will be attractive to all or as big a subset of players as possible. FC's were a great idea, I was expecting an affordable personal fleet carrier that most players would want or aspire to want, instead we got a large end game expensive FC. No issue as long as there is a reason for a none owner to visit, but there isn't. Worse this is on top of a release that was just for new players. Now it might be these are deliberate building blocks to the New Era release, but at this point I cannot judge this. I am on a break from the game as a result....

Let us have player owned stations. For example we could have to spend a LOT to have one built, partially funded by a power if we are aligned with a power. These would have to go in systems devoid of stations altogether. Then we could earn rep with manufacturers to be able to manufacture / sell their range of ships. Stations could need resources weekly for upkeep which we could either mine or trade for, some of which may NEED to be mined for. We could have licenced NPC traders that potter about auto trading to help with upkeep but use credits from the station's central funds. I'm not suggesting a whole Orbis or Coriolis but perhaps a modular outpost whereby we get a basic outpost with limited storage bins and pads and we can buy extensions to it for larger pads and npc bays ( for the stations owned vessels ).

an "abandoned" station would shut down once internal funds are depleted and after a month or two would simply destruct due to the power core destabilising due to lack of maintenance. This would prevent the galaxy from becoming cluttered with inactive stations.

We, as a whole, asked them to put aside new content to clean up what they have already given us. Don't you remember that? Like, when our influencers got up petition, and everyone happily jumped on and signed up? Well, I'd suggest this is what you get when a group of people go all Mobs-R-Us and influence the developers on how to develop.

This complaint should be pointed directly at us, and our influencers.

If I might reword your post :

fdev: the new era will be late 2020, and there will be small updates for new players plus a fleet carriers update in the intervening year or two.
OP: OMG I've just found out the new era will be late 2020 and there wont be anything other than small updates and fleet carriers in the intervening year or two??????

The only reason that needed to be done was because the Arx update broke almost everything.
