I admire your optimism. Honestly, i do.

And if Elite (in open) ever did start to change in the positive way you described - that would be fantastic!

However, i firmly believe that, for now at least, (as a starting point) the only way this could work or go smoothly in any way would be to go the Mobious style route. A private group, dedicated to RP that alows PVP as long as its RP focused.

Hell..dedicated RP servers can sometimes find it hard to get rpers to play ball..let alone the absolute sh** show that is currently OPEN play in Elite.

You probably don't have any forum/website to join yet, do you? From my own experience it helps a lot the guild to grow and discuss various ideas among officers and dedicated guildies...

Being able to convey a role via the chat, system-wide, should make it so people have an idea of the play involved if/when you eventually encounter them. Might be a time saver as well (less individual messages), I expect.

New squadron tools offer waaaay more than that. For example you have officers chat only, it's very useful for RP/RP events moderators. You have the possibility to advertise actual/future RP events in-game even via all the squadron info/news page!!!

Frontier really did learn their lessons well when it comes to those guilds/squadrons in-game tools. To be even more clear they're a straight rip-off from the major MMO titles in the industry (incl. the classic and the biggest one there is: World of Warcraft). And it's great! One should not invent the wheel again ;)

Agreed.
Mostly I was focusing on how it might well serve to bring other random Cmdrs. into the custom scenarios being created... in such a way that they take part rather than 8/10 of them dramatically doing something else.

I'm sorry mate, but that's why I asked for a forum/website where you can post your input to the conversation about the shape of the guild during work/school brake, taking a s**t, or you know... ;) Anytime, anywhere. It really speeds up growing the ideas among the officers.

Discord on the other hand is a live chat/voice over-ip, great to finalize details before the in-game RP event or some real brain storming when you just need to shape all the remaining details.

So please, as soon as you'll be having some place to post, do let me know!

I can recommend you Guild Launch or Enjin for this - great services to set up all you need for any gamers' guild out there. Incl. guild rosters, galleries, events calendars, very customizable forums etc.

Exactly! Not random Commanders though. They need to be your guildies/squadron members to fallow the squadron's news feed from their cockpits:)

Think, ppl don't get it yet how powerful tools they have got from Frontier! :)

Thank you for your interest in Garuda Ved. Like I said we are starting up, cleaning house, and setting up. Just last week we got our PMF accepted, and we are working on establishing our home base. However everything else we are still bouncing around and getting established. That is the correct Inara page, and it shall be updated to reflect more of the squadron elements later.

Garuda Ved's Discord https://discord.gg/yMcU2v. Starting off our gaming system will be based on Starfinder, which is Paizo's space answer to Pathfinder. Because of this I'll have to do some legwork to houserule what will be allowed and what won't. Our intent is to run a games/missions/adventures parallel to current ED story and lore, yet with more creative laterals.

We believe the challenge will be obtaining enough GMs to run these but we have at least one commander experienced and willing to run a crew. The actual RP portion will most likely take place on discord, of course with exceptions for special circumstances. And we are bouncing around the idea of how to get such an event published into the community.

I myself have been a Gamemaster for over 38 years and pride my groups efforts into RP while we are too casual to be considered hard core RPer's I like to think I provide the necessary Lore and Background to encourage RP between my players in our area of space.

As Commnader Axle Reese pointed out The Winters Wolves says it is a RPG PVE group who utilities the BGS and PP as a means to support our RP lore and stories. of which we got many. I am always trying to find the time to create colorful NPC and Locations such as Bill O'Flannigan's Leprechauns Liquors a small coffee shop with the best damn Irish Coffee in the Inner Orion Spur established on O'Brien's Dock in 3301.

I don’t mind role play, though I prefer thin characters... but I’m versatile.

Seriously though, I’m sure there are some, just don’t know any. I know a few of the Whales do it, and we’re cool with it, but then we’re cool with pretty much whatever, we just want to have fun.

Many Wolves don't RP Crosby is great about that he doesn't have any requirements to do so even if the Wolves are said to be a PVE RPG group, many just play the BGS of the minor faction doing missions, fighting wars, campaigning for elections, whatever floats their boats as they say but what is great is Crosby keeps fleshing out the area of space around 41 Lambda Hydrae with colorful NPC's and other stories, which makes this section of space come more alive and less generic then the rest of the galaxy and why I am not a RP player I can appreciate the effort he puts into it and I admit it has encouraged me to try my hand at it from time to time doubt I would have without his efforts though.

The Children of Raxxla are heavily RP-focussed, might be worth a look.

If you've listened to Broadcast Cobra at all, I think their RP style was pretty robust. Very casual and chatty, but they would translate anachronisms and game mechanics into ED Universe appropriate terms to a generally amusing effect.

A necro thread I guess, but anybody knows where you can roleplay these days? There are these Winter Wolfs guys and I cannot find any link to them which isn't blocked. Nothing on google either. If anybody would see this - give me some tips please.
