Landing successful

Just went to this "Strong G" thingy and landed there. It was not as much of a suicide mission as I thought. In fact, it went totally fine. Seems people exaggarate the risk by a huge margin. Anyway, it's a really fun palce for riding an srv since I can just go full throttle without having to worry about hull damage (since the srv doesn't jump 10 kilometers due to the gravity).

I think the 'difficulty' with any of the High-G worlds is that they're unforgiving of mistakes / lack of preparation. If you know what you're doing and take due care and attention while you're landing, you're fine. Landing on a notion without thinking first, not so much. Saw how many people The View killed in DW2, and that's much lower gravity...

Heading for Lithobreaker (11G landable near Colonia) sometime in the next week or two. In an unengineered Sidewinder. Soon see how good my own preparation is... 😅

By preparation, do you mean check the gravity in the map before faceplanting on the planet. Ahhhh makes sense. writes note.

I think i found my problem.

Seriously though, yeah knowing its a high planet and landing accordingly makes it much easier.

I didn't think much at all. I guess watching that one youtube video helped. Literally the only thing that I had to pay special attention to was to keep my angle of approach above -20 (what the yt video I had wached said, so I took the safe route and stayed within it). The only time I got concerned was when my ship was being pulled in way fast into the planet after I was out of glide. My thrusters couldn't stop me and I was going down like 100+m/s. I didn't get any damage, while only losing 1 layer of my 4D shields, though, so it's all fine. What is more difficult is landing at a chosen spot. I was like 1 Mm off from my targeted spot whereas I would usually get to basically right there on a low gravity planet. Was not dangerous, though.

Yep. Also, don't try while drunk, tired, or facing potential interruption from spouses or children, lest you put the controller down to go do what they need you to and have the cat sit on it and fly you into the ground while you're away.

Admittedly, I was nicely kershnickered when I landed at Newton's Necropolis (late Saturday night, what can I say). But 'killed by the cat' was also a true story, so.... swings and roundabouts. 😅
