I wish all the staff of Frontier the best of health. I quite understand the necessity for a delay and how hard a decision that was.

Can I ask, Will, do you think we'll see any trailers or sneak-peeks for the new-era content this year?

I want to know how many new ships I will have to blueprint! :LOL:

Do what you need to do to stay safe and do your best work, those of us who love Elite Dangerous will be here when you're ready to release the new content.

It's sorta understandable given the times we're living in, but yes, still disappointing.
But what I can say is the 'New Era' update better be very significant with some major new content that promotes a significant amount of new gameplay.
Elite Dangerous, right now, is getting stale and even the Fleet Carrier update isn't going to do much to help that, imo, because I don't see a real purpose to own one for what it all costs. There should have been some gameplay added around the Fleet Carriers but there is nothing. You just buy one and store ships on it like you already can for free in a space station.
"Oooh but it can travel 500ly"... Great, so can all the ships in the game (and faster).

I've been faithful to this game since day 1, but I can't stay afloat forever with it unless the devs throw a lifesaver in 2021.

BTW, some news of what's coming in 2021 would be nice. At least throw us a bone along with the news of the delay.

With the delay, there is an awful temptation to clean save my main account, and enjoy the early, and midgame progress again. Throwing away six years of grind isn't something to be done on a whim, however. My alt account is in a much better position to wait for the new content, and that is where I might be staying until the new release. The delay in new content makes, what seems to me, endgame content less attractive, since I have already played out my main account to about as far as I can.

In other words, burnout. The alt account is fresher than the main. It just doesn't have my name and friends list (or First Discovered's).

To be honest it has become incredibly difficult to keep the players believing in the game and its vision, for a while now. Groups leaders are doing everything they can to keep the community together, and personally I am now exhausted... I'm giving my all, as always. Tough times..

Do not exhaust yourself or feel obliged in any manner! It is just a game after all, it is completely ok to stop playing or being involved until something new sparks your interest again.

As someone who is still going to work in an industry related to making new products, the current situation is still a nightmare for getting anything done. This stuff needs people working together and it's surprising how much it needs people to be in the same room when discussing something when you're doing something hands on.

Completely understandable and expected announcement. Good luck and keep safe, I'm looking forward to the new content when it drops.

A little delay is understandable.

I don't care if it's late 2021. The game just has to be an obvious winner when it comes!

It can't be a game where marketing and the community manager has to over sell it in broad flowery over repeated terms!

New Era has to be obviously and stunningly good!

I feel Frontier really needs to reinvigorate and show their design, development and QA chops when stacked up to the space game (and other games) competition! In the last couple years especially, the competition are showing more and more that their teams are more talented more passionate and committed to putting out the quality game their fans want.

I would be disappointed but fine with this. Fdev pushes nearly every release date. I want the game and new era to be as awesome as possible.

Except....the carriers have been in development forever, are a complete disaster, and I honestly don't understand where the time involved has gone.

So, that update has really shaken my faith a lot. Beyond was cool. I look forward to the new era. Guess we've gotta settle in for another year of waiting. I hope it's worth it/

This being the 4th time the follow up to Horizon DLC that all us life time pass holders expect in 2017 has now been delayed.

No one is surprised.

Roadmap

Let be honest, its not a roadmap.

Thanks for the update and is completely understandable, is there any possible way to make CG's and Galnet community led? Would be great if we could take the pressure off FD and do it as a community effort and get those features back?
