When the WHO uses wording like "potential", that's never going to get a politician to do anything at all. COVID 19 is a wake up call to humanity that I hope it heeds (but I doubt humanity has the brains to do so). WHO failed, not because of itself, but because no-one listened.

Too many people, too much overcrowding, too much movement.

I want humanity to stabilise and not be obsessed with growth, Growth, GROWTH.

Ok. Can I get you to read the following phrase, please ?

Public Health Emergency of International Concern

This is the highest State of Alert WHO can raise/issue . The world "potential" is not in there . Every member State can/MUST know -> when WHO rasies this, its serious, and dangerous .

To say "WHO failed, not because of itself, but because no-one listened." is, rich...really . Kind of like the Ministry of Truth in 1984 .

Also, keep in mind the Pandemic is still going . And we have exactly ONE Organization that globally coordinates efforts to do at least SOMETHING to support countries that are in dire straits already anyways, and ANOTHER Pandemic hitting them atmo simply means even more coffins, coffins, coffins . Just ask yourself what could be behind THIS ONE Organization we have, which has "Healthcare for everyone" ingrained into its DNA, being under so much flak now .

WHO is not only fighting the current pandemic . WHO still fights Malaria . Measles . Smallpox . Ebola . A plethora of other things . IF any of these starts to get out of control for whatever reason, suddenly the World gets hit by a lot of all THAT mess as well .

Just why is it that SOME people/nations on this planet suddenly think it is a pretty good Idea to attack and defund this Organization ? For political reasons ? WHO is NOT a political Organization !

Yep . After weeks of everyone and their mother bashing WHO and others for not recommending the use of masks, it will now be only be a matter of days until it becomes fashionable to yell "Mask ! Hah, FAKE! Useless ! People dont even use them properly!"

Yeah. As if that was not what WHO and others have cautioned against form the beginning, and if that was not one of the reasons they advised against it XD .

I'm not attacking WHO in what they did or not do, I'm lamenting the fact that the WHO is toothless. What is the point of WHO and any recommendations it advises if ploiticians do not listen.

(hint I'm actually attacking politicians).

edit- I "was" ging to edit my typo of politicians on the 1st line....but "ploy"ticians....I'll leave that in.

We’re doing amazingly well, only 32k dead. They’d die soon anyways. Let’s just all go back to normal. I mean new normal, which is same as before just better, cos my hedge fund has matured.
While we’re about it, let’s make sure we’ve got the yummy chlorinated chicken deal in place, and let’s make sure we can run that jolly old nhs privately. /s

It is humankinds business to put an end to the suffering . As you correctly deduce, "outsourcing" the responsibility to politicians does not work . Is one of the things driving me crazy and testing my resolve to no end for decades now...that a lot of people still do it .

Sadly most people just live in a bubble, I suppose I sort of understand why, thinking about the bigger picture on multiple topics has done nothing but drive me to collosal bouts of depression on a regular basis. Ignorance IS bliss. :(

I takes a certain measure of strength to face reality . Once you took a glimpse, there is no going back . To keep going requires what Rocky Balboa describes very apt :

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
