Question about metallic meteorites

Is it true that high metal content worlds spawn metallic meteorites and mesosiderites more often?
Metal Rich Bodies, i'd say, but that's just my experience, not based on data. Certainly when in the black, i'll always farm at MRBs.

In case you want to get raw mats, you should look up your codex for crystalline shards.

Or google it ;)
Geo sites come in 2nd, after crystalline shards.
The problem with both of these, if I'm not mistaken, is that they are not infinite. In other words, if one commander comes and farms them, they can be depleted (for a time) for other commanders who come later. This is not the case for metallic meteorites, mesosiderites and ship crash sites etc.

Crystalline shards are Individual for each instant as far as I know so show up in solo and you’re grand

They are on all body types.
from experience alone most of us can tell you that any meteor will be on any body.
common sense also says - they fall from space, not shoot up from planet core....

from my personal experience I can tell you I tend to find them in large amounts more on icy bodies than any other type.
for that matter on most metal type non-icy bodies it seems that when the outcrop #2(gold color) was introduced they somehow managed to take the place partially of metallic meteorites, so you find them more instead of metallic meteorites.

as for the search for materials, even though you can travel far and mine fast for some, its not for all materials, nor is it always faster if its just 1 thing you need.

I recently spent 2 hours at the bug killer site topping off Ruthenium, Tellurium, Antimony, then went to another body in same system and topped off my selenium and Yttrium.
total 3 hours.
still good and faster than crystalline gardens, I know as I have been there dozens of times and will again once my polonium is almost gone.

a couple things that appear meaningless is the percentages the system map shows for mats and the state aka depleted - pristine - makes no diff to a planet
for those of us that did this long before fdev gave us that % in the system map, many of us had already found many bodies that gave large amounts of materials such as selenium, Yttrium, Polonium...etc
All my best places(except bio sites I use) for mats are rated depleted(meaningless)

The body at the bug killer site for selenium and yttrium was new to me, just thought I'd check it while I was there instead of going to my usual depleted body for a refill.
So it was actually nice finding another body that has selenium in large amounts in almost every rock

Ive just visited my first crystaline shard site, one from codex (found by cmdr veronica) - its big enough to 3-4 cmdrs fill up their inventory. Also it didnt appear to be "used". Although its pretty far away, meaby ppls go to closer ones

Spot on. Interesting to note that metallic meteorites - more often than not - pop up in groups of three, presumably shards created by the impact. I've not noticed this with chondrites (non-metallic meteorites) but may not have been paying enough attention.

I'm not going to travel a thousand light years to get mats.
1000 Ly / 78 Ly jump range = c. 13 jumps equivalent to c. 15 min game time.
No brainer to me when you can gather grade 5 mats in a further 10 min per G5 element and trade down really easily.
Full mats of everything in less than an hour or two game time if you farm the right systems.
