Had to scroll down half a page of "working on" "refactoring" and buzz words before getting to gameplay.

Features (Gameplay)

Alongside polishing and bug-fixing for Alpha 3.9, the Gameplay Features Team worked to support initiatives for Arena Commander, Star Marine, Theaters of War, and Invictus Launch Week. They also began preliminary work on a new player trading app for mobiGlas. The first phase focuses on the ability to send currency between players, with later revisions extending to physical inventory items.

So, the gameplay features being worked on are for the non-core modes including the new mode that nobody except Rexzilla asked for, some sort of trading app, and currency transfer.

SQ42 update is full of stuff that seems appropriate to SC just as much as SQ42

Under AI

Afterwards, they began work on realistic firing, initially tackling reload actions for NPCs. They extended the actor state machine to report the results of reloading actions so that NPC behaviors are notified and branch correctly in the decision-making process.

They’re currently working to keep track of NPC bullet quantity so that reloading is triggered at appropriate times.

So, CIG are currently working on how to track an integer? My god, truly groundbreaking stuff that most definitely needed reporting on! Whatever next? For..Next loops?

MOCAP! And it seems like they are still doing it!

The Mo-Cap Team improved the motion builder skeleton, which will help the wider team create assets faster, and the ‘take selection’ tool, which will improve post-shoot turnaround.

Fashion!

They’re currently finalizing officer uniforms and will move onto others in the coming weeks. Thanks to the multitude of ranks in the UEE Navy, around fifteen outfits will be created.

15 outfits for a single organization? You know, i think most developers would go with just a few and slap on some rank labels and stuff. But what do they know about fidelity?

Oh, like with gameplay in SC you really have to scroll down to get to what might be considered one of the most important parts for SQ42, the story.

he gameplay story scenes on and around the bridge seats on the Idris underwent iteration and they are now beginning to support the Social AI Team's work in this location. Lastly, they moved a few scenes for chapter eight through the pipeline.

Story pipelines!

Well obviously it does not weigh 9500t. Also the physics engine in that game uses so many "cheats" and work arounds to make it barely believable, i guess they are deep in it now with a lot of systems inter-dependant with ships being actually like 1kg right in the middle of the spaghetti code.

Also
the Gameplay Features Team worked to support initiatives for Arena Commander, Star Marine, Theaters of War, and Invictus Launch Week
So what is "Invictus" ???
Arena Commander: they didnt touch that one for years, what's the point now ?
Star Marine: since they are replacing that with ToW, what's the point too ?
ToW: well obviously last year and 2020 they were busy on that one, given the near zero progress on everything else. It better sell millions to make up for it. grin
And now they add another one ? Means they are working on new "games" all the time ?
Can i conclude that the PU is just an older "released" product that is just on support now ?

From the RSI website:
FLEET WEEK? YES, FLEET WEEK!
Invictus Launch Week, also commonly known as Fleet Week, is the period between Emancipation Day and Armistice Day that marks the beginning of the new year of recruits for the UEE Navy.

To honor those signing up to defend the Human systems, Fleet Week aims to celebrate! What exactly does that mean? An epic Free Fly, special promotions, community contests, and more! Stay tuned…
