Newcomer / Intro professor palin = chloe sedesi?

thanks.

now i have 25 extra sensor fragments becuase i wanted to unlock her but already have palin. should I throw them away to net get hyperdicted by thargoids?

If you've got a ship with half decent jump range just head out and dump them on her, then pin the other drives (and mod some stuff until she's at grade 5). I just did both of them today; I figured since I was already halfway out in the black grabbing the sensors I may as well just carry on and get her done and then head back and grab Palin too. She was only about 8 jumps away at that point.

You can always unlock her to pin clean drives. You never know ...
You also cannot throw materials away. Sensor fragments are irrelevant for Thargoid interactions.
That's actually a really good idea, I think I'll go unlock her now just to pin clean drives

thanks.

Give her the fragments now. Things might change in the future and it'll be a pain to have to go and get them again. Also, you never know when the devs are going to change something. It might be more risky or take longer to gather the fragments in the future.

How do you plot a 5000ly journey to unlock engineers and whats the most usefull direction?
You select target system that is >5000 ly from your starter system, select KGB FOAM from the star types panel and click the route plotter icon (<ou know, those three balls with the two lines, second from the left). If you forgot to bring a fuel scoop and only notice that once you're in a system without a station, you call the Fuel Rats, then return to the nearest outfitter and equip a fuel scoop.
As far as useful directions go, up and down are out - there isn't 5000 ly of stars available in either way. South can be a bit challenging, as the stars tend to thin out after a few thousand lys. Otherwise, check EDAstro - the less traveeled a certain area is, the more likely you are to find as yet unexplored worlds.

If you just want to travel 5,000ly as fast as possible pick some famous location or visible feature to head towards that way you can travel quicker as you can tell yourself there is no point scanning as so many people will have been that way.
To maximise the exploration returns head out of the bubble a couple of hundred light years and then from there choose a direction that does not lead to anywhere interesting or pretty or famous, that should maximise your chances of getting first discoveries.

If you decide to go to a a known or recommended location, don't plot a route direct to it. Instead go 500LY to a point 500LY above or below the galactic plane and plot a route to a point to the side of the location before going to it. That will get you first discoveries for nearly every system you visit.

If you just want to unlock the engineer, it makes no difference where you go, just plot a route in any direction away from anything else and keep jumping until you get the invite. Don't go in a SE direction from the bubble because there are large permit locked areas down there. W, E, or SW would be better directions. If you go N, there's a station in the lagoon sector about 4000LY away in case of problems, but that's a well-trodden path.

I went to Omega Mining Colony, just over 5200LY? north of the starter systems.. There is an asteroid base there as well where you can set down and take stock (plus another base about 1/3 of the way out.

Take care 'though... My first attempt went somewhat (and very embarrassingly) awry!! ( https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...ions-a-tale-of-so-near-and-yet-so-far.539376/ )

On the way back from a latter successful run, I fley out 'sidways' a bit to another base before taking a less trodden route back.

I have to say the wi-fi is really good out there. The Prof's email got to me in the absoulte middle of nowhere!!!

I literally just zoomed out on the galaxy map, then zoomed in on systems a long way away until I found an inhabited system at around the 5000ly mark. I ended up going towards the bottom left of the map (didn't want to go up, as figured I'd do that in future exploration/Colonia gameplay), and had a series of alien encounters, saw my first damaged station, so was a really fun trip.

I did my Palin trip to Jellyfish Nebula, and that was 5077 light years to the beta site there. It's nice to have a station, even one carved out of a rock, to dock after such a journey. That was a few years ago, and there were many untagged systems on the route.

I even got pictures!

This gives someone a system to dial in if they want to go to the same to get the Palin invite.
