...Carebear is certainly not a term that implies anything to do with skill, it's a label that applies to one's attitude to MMOs and unsolicited pvp in such.
And it is a label that shows great respect to another player's choice, I suppose?

It is the 'Hotel California' debate all over again, even though you purchased the game with 3 modes, all equal in affecting the BGS - and later with the introduction of PP, equally so - and dislike the fact that it remains so, to the point of having to insult any other player who doesn't wish to play along in the fashion you consider "the only way" with a childish handle...

As I mentioned, your opinion is always going to be 100% correct, but using a derogatory term for a player who doesn't play your way isn't impressive...

I never considered it, it's just a word. If it offends you, I believe that says more about you than it does about me. I'm not your enemy, I don't want to force pvp on you, but I do want you to face me in battle if you want to win a war against my faction. Is that unreasonable? Yes or no?

I did, and I stand by it. The fact that this means I can't participate in this conversation has a lot more to do with you than it does with me. I think people who think they should be able to affect the bgs and pp from solo are carebears, yes, they affect game systems, free rom any consequences for their actions, thanks to FD's poor decision.
That is nonsense springing from power fantasies. You could say the same about console players and ppl logging in from Atlantis. But they wouldn't count because you'd fabricate some user that happened to be there at the right time, place and connection node they would log in from anyway in order to attack the sinister fiend. A load of nollocks is all the "solo affects me game whining".

Thanks for sharing your opinion, I respectfully, disagree. If you want to win a BGS war against my faction you should have to face me in battle. That's the foundation of competitive games, and don't tell me this is not a competitive game, because my PMF can have a war with your PMF (I don't actually have a pmf, not that silly, lol, but for example sake).

The word bothers me not in the least, the disrespect implicit in the current use may be a different matter :)
Oddly, it say more about you than me, if you consider it... It wasn't I who chose to use derogatory terms in relation to other play styles... Hmmm....

But never mind, you can shift the blame onto me for your indescretions, my shoulders are broad enough and I can carry your hurt as well as my own :)

Because it's off topic it seems the motivation was to insult, rather than make a point.
If this were a solo vs open thread it wouldn't have been so jarring.

I disagree, you should have to play the BGS if you want to influence the BGS. And now you say you don't play the BGS? So what are you even going on and on about it?

Perhaps it was intended as a term of disrespect originally, but I have many friends who identify as carebears, so it's lost any edge for me. Now it's just a way of identifying a demographic in the game.

I actually concede a point here, it does seem off topic unless I add a note about my train of thought...which was...

If FD played the game, they would probably do bGS and/or power play activities and learn to regret that decision. I can se how it might seem like I was taking an opportunity to bash, but in my mind there was a solid connection, promise. ;)

Appology accepted ;)

Why not? I call myself a carebear often enough on these forms to take the mickey out of those who consider it to be primarily a pew-pew game and are butt-hurt because other can opt to play as they wish. (This incidentally is a source of constant amusement to me, particularly in BGS manipulation where PvP combat is the LEAST effective method in winning - but you already know that, I assume :) )

We have a couple of discussion on the forum currently revolving around descriptive words... surprising, isn't it?

It's fine, you want to shoot folk, nothing amiss with that, you play as you wish...

I guess on occasions the fingers can't keep up with the train of thought, and sometimes a more solid link to the thread is assumed as done but in fact skipped.

I'm actually not lawful any more. Lawful politics is not representative of my morality, nor how I want to be represented in this game. I disbanded GARD and the squad is now called Unit One, just 6 pvpers, gittin gudder every day. !00% totally neutral. o7
I did wonder where the GARD logo went...
