Just purchased a X52 pro - latest bindings

Good Morning All

Ive just purchased a X52 Pro, I know there are many threads out there - but does anyone currently playing and using one care to share their latest .binds with me.

So many suggestions out there - but what has stuck and really works for you? Do you use the various modes or stick with one?

I play in VR so seeing the joystick is not an option

Thank you in advance for your help

Nice stick!
I used mine (in VR - but only after spending a few hours pancake to get some muscle memory) until it wore out.
Just a comment, the 'pinky button' can be uses very easily as a shift key and give you a second function for just about every button/switch/hat :)

The timing of this thread is impeccable.
My bindings constantly get wiped, and I don’t think it’s updates; the game just seems to “forget”, for whatever reason.
I’ve also been trying in vain to map certain buttons and wheels (yes I have disabled clutch mode).
It might be rather nice if some x52 owner wiser than I were to dish out some juicy tips about setups etc., or point us in the direction of said information.
That’s a “pretty please”, in case you didn’t notice!
No intention to threadjack. Many thanks OP!

Recently the game has been 'forgetting' bindings on my X56 (bought when the X52 died) and getting them back has been as simple as going to options/controls and clicking Apply...

...also have you made a backup of your 'working' bindings file outside of the bindings directory (or even in a folder in the same, perhaps called backup)?

No problem - hopefully we can get sorted together

The wheels and buttons on the throttle MPD:

Do not appear to be allocated to any other function (although I did read that someone claimed to have done so but the method wasn't shared)
Everything else can be mapped, including the mouse stick & buttons.

So, has the quality of the X52 improved now that its owned by Logitech?
Asking in case in need to change mine, its an x52 from the Saitek era.

Allegedly they are using better quality switches and wiring now, reading around outside of this forum the 'new' X series (grey not blue painted for the X56 - no visible difference for the X52) have been pretty positive.

Yeah, been doing the same as yourself, although often one or two functions seem (weirdly) to get expunged somewhere along the way.
I may have to remove the current bindings file and replace it with its own backup to see if that makes a difference.
Those are the buttons and wheels! I can get the game to register a press on the left wheel. Everything else, not a thing. I also read they’re purely for the clock settings or something. Not sure.

Be good to get some advice on settings for wheels, sliders etc.
I used to have one wheel on the throttle for scrolling back and forward through enemy modules, the other for increasing and decreasing scanner range. Something happened and the game just treats them as “one way” functions now. Maybe something I could configure in the software settings, but I really am that much of a dummy.

If you'd like to play around with a bindings file, I've added my last one below.
Secondary functions are mapped using the pinky switch as a shift.
If you have the X52 programming software it is best to start with everything 'unprogrammed' as it frees up the mouse stick and buttons for game use.
Apologies beforehand if the 'logic' I applied doesn't make sense, I blame being left-handed and lazy...

With the wheels on the throttle you need to start at the centre detent and program + & - going in opposite directions from the detent (otherwise you have the situation you have... )

Many thanks for all the info! Really helpful.
I’ll have to set aside some time and have a deep binding session 😉
It is quite fun really, some are easy and obvious, others seem sensible until you are playing 'blind' in VR then show themselves to be impractical.
I'd guess you'll spend an hour or so initially (with only a small amount of cussing over bindings that are not what they appear, or in a place you'd expect...) getting the layout made, then probably another couple of hours over the next couple of weeks 'tweaking'. Once you have something that works for you, back it up, change the name, and have fun.

Rename the custom 3.0 bindings file something useful e.g. Fred_3.0.bind then open the bindings file with wordpad and change the filename in line 2 to match whatever you called it. This will appear in your list of bindings under that name, making life sooooo much easier! (particularly on any update when FD decide to replace the custom bindings file with a vanilla one!)

Have fun, come back and let us all know how it went (y)
