Just because its not listed as VR game in Steam doesnt mean its not gonna be there. Steam is not a bible.

VR is there, im quite sure of it.
Well, of course David Braben no longer enthusiastic about VR as a whole may have something to do with it, as well. Smart companies go where the most money for the least effort is. VR is more dev time/costs for a small percentage of playerbase. And FDEV can easily see how many are playing in VR vs. normal via ingame telemetry and metrics. Cutting it if unprofitable would make business sense.

Whether you like it or not (to each their own), what I like about this stuff is that it shows ambition. Maybe it won't suit your playstyle, but one should acknowledge that the game's development is definitely not dead yet - which was hard to believe throughout 2019 and the first half of this year...

So way to go Frontier.
FD clearly said they were busy working on the next era which would be major and a paid expansion.
Wasn't hard to believe except for the especially salty players and trolls.

Whether there is lot's more "gameplay" that each person expects to be a specific type, well that remains to be seen.

I do hope along with the visual improvements and expanded gameplay elements that FD have thought long and hard and worked on emergent gameplay and also how Power Play, Minor Factions, and all that integrates together to add another dimension to players affecting the galaxy where humans exist. I don't really expect that, I mostly expect details of walking about, shooting stuff and collecting stuff in new ways, exploring space stations with NPCs walking about, and hopefully NPC driven SRVs and other vehicles.

Are there ship interiors?

Honestly I would have been so much more excited for this if not for the soul crushing upkeep that is STILL attached to fleet carriers. Really shows how one really bad choices poisons a game for you.

I hope it's awesome. I also hope Frontier realize real time upkeep is poison.

Watching at the video looks boring as hell imo. Walking around lifeless rocks can see that being nice for about 30 seconds.

But can we walk on ships? Not in them- on them?

Once this is out, I hope FD set up a separate team to develop a story-driven / episodic Elite Dangerous Product. Many gamers want more of the traditional game-console story-line driven experience. FD can do that and the training missions show how they can integrate that into the existing game.

So, start with the training missions and then expand greatly on those with a story that has a beginning and end. Then charge for it as a stand-alone game.

If they now have enough income to do this they would be stupid not to, imho. They could even have done it before spacelegs. But should they wait for full atmospheric play or start working with what they already have.

I'd buy it.

Also, same for some type of tactical space combat simulation. It may be a 20 years away vision, but I can see the Elite franchise developing in several ways. It is a bit unfortunate about the Elite name though as it isn't nearly as good as Frontier or something similar. I guess they want to keep it to sell on the old brand name recognition. Horizons and Odyssey are expanding on that though.

Are you going to fix powerplay? Re-integrated it into the game, or are you going to keep ignoring the thousands of Powerplayers as if we are second-class citizens?

I'm beginning to think PP, Galnet, etc may be needing re-development due to the "new code" being used for next era. Would explain a lot, and at least give a valid reason for it all to be suspended for now, as much as that sucks.
