It's normal for a Lifetime Expansion Pass, no ?

I don't see a gift here. It was agreed like that during the kickstarter for the founding members.

It would be a real scandal if it were not included in the pass for the founding members.

🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 🦠 😷

Where is there mention of a gift?

Someone asked is it included in the life time pass, the answer was they are happy to confirm yes.

What is wrong with them answering someones question?

Yeah... it doesn't matter how big or many your monitors are. You're still sitting at a desk looking at a screen(s).

I much prefer BEING in my ship and/or actually walking around on a planet. Nothing beats a good HMD.
You're sat in your room with a brick strapped to your head.

Are we just ignoring the fact that after 5 years we still aren't getting ship interiors to walk around in? There was a deleted thread already where am FDev employee confirmed ship interiors are not happening. I find that a bigger deal than whining about VR

Unfortunate that it was deleted before you even had a chance to mention it. I think everyone would love to see that confirmation. I think you will find there are many that don't care about ship interiors, just as there are many that want it. So we'll still be at an impasse there.

No VR for Odyssey? Honestly, I don't see the point in buying Odyssey. If I have to wait for the ed VR version in 2022 (and I'm not sure it will happen), I would look at Star Citizen. If I have to change the game, it will be for SC, more modern and more advanced. But none of them have RVs ... yet. 😡

So you leave ED because it doesn't have a VR support in the next expansion to go play SC tha doesn't have VR at all.
I fail to understand the logic behind that decision.
ah, having palyed SC, it is more advanced only in the amount of game breaking bugs.

I remember another famous quote from him, I think circa 2016: "Exploration is feature complete, what more could you possibly want?" or something like that.

I will accept that many of the mechanics are half baked, but that was a company model... “we will see how popular multi crew is before deciding whether or not to make it worth playing”

Brookes (for me) got the essence of Elite more than Braben or woods. Just my opinion, having spoken to all three at meet-ups. Not sure any aspect of Elite ever actually got completed!

So, the problem I have with the no VR in Odyssey is that I would now need to set up 2 different control bindings for the game. One for VR enabled content and one for noVR content. I certainly wouldn't want to fly in noVR, not when I've had the pleasure of flying in VR up till now. But if I want to use the new content, which I imagine includes the landing approach to the atmo worlds, I would need to log out, and restart in Odyssey, conduct the landing, do whatever the new content is, then leave the planet, before switching back.

And the rumors of no ship interiors? So, it's like the SRV then? Just fade to black, and now I'm at the boarding ramp on foot? That'd be a hard pass for me. The whole point of wanting spacelegs was, to me, the freedom to get out of the flight seat, poke around in my ship, or at least traverse naturally from the cockpit to the SRV, fighter, or the exit, and explore my ship and it's surroundings in a seamless way. If we are just snapped to the outside, then I could just use the vanity camera. FPS combat would be a fringe benefit, not the core feature.

Elite with no VR: What's the point?

Star Citizen actually anounced they are going to implement VR. Good timing! Mind you i will see who implements it first.
Sturmovik VR is pretty cool. DCS Super carrier Nomansky the new space engineers VR. Tank crew VR, Onward....I will wait.
Thanks for all the fish Fdev. I will be buy when you sell VR. Kthxbye!
they announced about 7 years ago. Will not happen.

What is it with all the people personally attacking VR users who are expressing how they will not buy an update to the game that is a VR only game for them? I mean, are you that easily offended by someone else being disappointed? Sheesh, chill dudes.

I think it's the manner in which it is being expressed, not that they have an issue to begin with.

lets just skip over the fact that I’m older than I care to admit and leave mums out of it - if they announced that the new expansion won’t be released on console, but that they will revisit the possibility at a later date - would that be ok?
my point is simply . lets just give them a break. I am sure they had their reasons and I doubt they will just on everybody that plays in VR..

Yeah, I've no idea what's up with that either.

It's really simple. Elite is a VR only game for me. They are taking that away. As their customer and a fan, I'm letting them know, I will not be buying this (because why would I?).

Surely more sales = better game, right?

My only hope is all these people who claim they will quit if theres no VR will move on and not haunt the forum with all the whiny negativity

I'm not quitting the game, I'm still going to be playing Horizons, but I'm certainly not going anywhere near Odyssey until they patch in VR compatibility.

I work on a strict no VR no buy basis these days and have been since I got my Rift 4 years ago.

If Frontier want any more of my money they need a VR patch. And even then it's not going to make up for the disappointment of having this space legs and atmospheric landings carrot dangled in front of our noses for so long only to find out us VR headset owners can't take a bite. 😭

Oh man, I remember that... Strangely shortsighted, especially considering all of the fantastic ideas that have been floating around in the forums since before the game was actually a game. As much fun as I have had with the game, there's so much potential that will likely never be realized. It's so important that they get the FPS gameplay right and not leave us with another half baked system.

really don't understand why we need vr in an fps module. Personally i think it would be a major handicap if a vr player was faced against a non vr player

Because it's more than an FPS module you jump into. We need to, assuming what they indicated is correct, play the old version of the game to use VR that means we can't enjoy atmo planets or any other new odessey features not called space-legs in VR regardless of whether it's for ships, SRVs, or feet.

Track IR5 is all you need dude,

VR extremists will not delay this game for the rest of us.

Either you board the train or get off starting from this moment. And come back when VR for spacelegs is added (6 months after release)

What if TrackIR isn't supported by Odyssey???
As someone who hasn't played ED without TrackIR since Gamma 2014, that statement makes my blood run cold......

my point is simply . lets just give them a break. I am sure they had their reasons and I doubt they will just poopoo on everybody that plays in VR..

I don’t want to give them a break. I don’t care what their reasons are either. Elite Dangerous in VR is my goto game. it’s what I play and how I play. They are changing direction (as is their right) and I am raising my strong objection (As is my right)
Again if it were consoles that weren’t being supported, I’d have zero issue with it, but would understand why many would and certainly wouldn’t begrudge them their voice.
