0145 CDT. All quiet. No fires on the horizon. No sirens or weapons fire. Even the doggie upstairs has taken a nap.

I keep being haunted by the need to make five quintillion credits before Borann Borann Borann has been nerfed...can't sleep. No base building in Odyssey. Must grind Imperial rank to Cutter, and make five quintillion, fast. :)

That's the kind of stuff that makes Australia and especially New Zealand my dream places to move to if I could.

Fantastic as the house owner asked those people to get off his recently seeded grass in a polite fashion, regardless of who they were, and how they politely aknowledged immediately they were in the wrong, moved away, and apologised to the man, regardless of being the prime minister or the queen of sheba. The civility. This is the kind of place where I would love to live in.

Increased societal stress, cumulative fear of death from an invisible source, and then the presentation of a threat from a well known old enemy = exaggerated focused response like lifting the lid of a pressure cooker. Displacement is the term used for application of emotion from one source to another because it cannot be expressed at the first. Can you mass protest against a virus? No. You lockdown. Can you get tribal support against a common enemy? No, you isolate.

Pretending that everything is back to normal, or ignoring the virus and doing social adjustments( protesting, rioting, massing military, arresting, tear gas) instead of isolating is going to get people killed.
George Floyd knew he was positive. Why is he maskless, in an enclosed store, having arguments about fake money? Because 20$ is more important in the minds of the general public than 100,000+ deaths? Police officers making an arrest- are they wearing antivirus gear? No. Are they minimizing contact with people to protect themselves? No, they are busy strangling them in a close cluster so they can all inhale.

The general failure of the US education system is going to be paid in full this year. You don't understand basic science? Tough. You or your loved ones are getting sick and dying because you don't.

It is going to cost a lot more lives, trash the economy further, and irrevocably alter the politics.

Viral particles do not know or care about our travails. They just relentlessly do what is in their 16kb code. You think the Terminator was single minded? Ha.

Apply the understanding to the facts, and predict:
eg: the 4 accused officers with zero PPE in close proximity to the dying, gasping, exhaling, maskless Covid 19 positive man are now arrested and going to be put into a prison. They were all home with other people before that. Also - maskless, of course, in their homes because murder charges are something rather distracting eh?

I was just about to write that the number of global new cases yesterday was higher than ever before, but you said it man!

75-year old man, trying to return a helmet he found, makes the wrong gesture and is shoved by police as they sweep the streets ahead of curfew. He falls, fractures his skull, and begins bleeding profusely from his ear as he convulses slightly. Police claim he tripped, until it becomes clear that there are multiple videos of the event. Supposedly he's in stable condition.

One thing I've noticed, at least locally, is that law enforcement are almost devoid of PPE other than riot gear. Nearly all the protesters are at least wearing masks, despite police efforts to destroy protester's supplies.

Many areas in the States have suspended testing...which is surely going to set back containment and interfere with accurate case counts.

It is really, really depressing that not much can be done from the outside . I have friends in the US . I visited the country 2 times . Met a whole lot of really wonderfull people on different locations on the Planet who are US citizens . Now, I am witnessing from afar, through media, what well looks like it could explode into a fullblown civil war ( yeah, I am being dramatic...but the pictures are really looking like that from my perspective . ) .

And nothing I can do beyond hoping and wishing that people will be safe, free from harm, that all this will NOT accelerate the frickin' Pandemic ( futile, I know ), and generally, the Country coming back to Peace and Unity as quick as possible .

Hating this . Nothing I can do . Words and wishes...only massaging myself really, does not change anything for the peolpe involved .

I aware of that . I have not spent almost 50 years on this Planet in a cave . I am one of those people who think a a Pandemic has the potential of causing Famine, War and Death on a larger scale . I am kindof seeing the worst coming for months now ( I know, I am dramatic...) . What happenes in the US at the moment is not unexpected for me . That does not help me the least bit though, I feel helpless and useless in the face of immense suffering, and I do not like it .

Plenty of compilations going around. Gonna save the mods the hassle and not post it. It's been cool though to see the mental gymnastics of the independent thinkers. "Ayn Rand, small government, we need AR15s to protect against the authoritarian state! Whats that? Government attacks innocent unarmed citizens to clear the way for a propaganda shoot? Oh, errr, thats cool."
