I had a friend over a few months back before the pandemic got out of hand. He had tried VR before but not ED. He almost broke my HOTAS the way he was getting immersed in the training missions.Hell, I got the game after playing it on a friend's Vive with an x52. Because who wouldn't, after that experience?
What does your head tell you?Can I ask the devs, will Horizons continue to be developed with new content after fleet carriers or will it be left to fade and die? For us VR users that is the only way forward.
Does that mean you are disappointed in him for being disappointed at those who are disappointed?A dozen people each posting once about how they are disappointed by the lack of VR support is way less annoying than one guy posting a dozen times about how he is disappointed in those who are disappointed.![]()

being disapointed about lack of VR support is one thing. but draging it for over 70 pages or more, in a thread about an announcement of an entire new expansion coming out, is another thing entirely.
We anderstand your frustrations VR users, but please do realise that there is way more important things to discuss here aswell. like what sort of content are we getting? it's a little bit selfish of you guys, to keep hammering about this for 70 pages, yelling about how you're only given 1 rather than 2 options with wich to experience the game. while the massive majority of the rest of us only have 1 to begin with.
imagine being served a meal in a restaurant, and you're yelling about lack of forks, and only spoons are given, while not knowing what the meal actually is to begin with. NO FORK NO BUY, before even opening the lid on the meal itself, is what you all guys sound like in this thread. maybe let's unpack the meal first? see what it has to offer? then we look at what we gonna eat it with later. just a thought.

c'mon rubber, you are used to FD. That tiny useless bit of information they were hard pressed to spit out might look as a poem to someone who is surviving powerplay info starvation like you.
We cannot trust fd to know IF vr support will be provided. You know their jargon. I hope they will give insights as soon as possible in the dev diaries to come.
I saw your list of games and thanks for putting it up, but I am a niche game player. Flight Sim and Space Combat Junkie. Played the original Elite, all the Wing Commander series, X Wing/Tie Fighter Series, Freespace etc. Was looking for a new space game to get into and considered No Mans Sky and Star Citizen and opted for Elite after watching some videos. I work away a lot and play ED on my gaming laptop. I play DCS At home on main PC with TM Warthog HOTAS and pedals. Was thinking a VR Headset is not to much extra to carry around, but couldn’t bring all the kit for DCS. I might still get the VR for DCS, but less incentive now.@Mad Mike summed it up nicely:
I can only add: it's a nice atmospheric planet you have there, odyssey commander. It's a damn shame I cannot even enter it's exclusion zone, if I even can see it at all in her "new tech" glory, because oh wait, new tech is in Odyssey, not in Horizons.
We have come a looong way since then, the current resolution compared to DK2 is insane especially on the HP Reverb (2160x2160), the screen door effect is almost non-existent now, the field of view is much bigger (drastically in the case of Pimax), and the tracked controllers do all the difference in the world in terms of immersion.
I am sorry to hear about that. I still think you could benefit from VR for the experience of ship being all around you and your head movements tracked flawlessly, however without the stereo effect which you have never experienced it would just be "better track ir" with the added benefit of isolating you from outside world. I have a friend who doesn't have depth perception, and he still bought an oculus rift s because of the Elite experience he had. He said his condition is "similar to what you would see if you cover one of your eyes". But it all comes down to the disposable income one has for toys, because that's what VR is to me - a really damn fine toy.
Vote with your wallet, buy a VR headset and play a plethora of other great VR games out there. They won't be Elite but that doesn't meant they won't be awesome. I gave the list twice in my posts, I'll link it into my sig because people still have this strange misconception that it is still 2016, VR has just released and there are no games for VR at the moment.
My experience tells me that some of the updates in Horizons/Beyond updated the base game as well. What does your head tell you?
You'd have more power if we kept together as a community rather than pull apart.Would all the players who have no horse in the VR race leave us alone in our misery and discuss something else. We don't mind trawling past your posts.
