VR support 'not at launch' for Odyssey

To clarify the clarification
ON RELEASE

Personally I find it best to treat features not promised as features not coming. For all we know VR could wind up being gone from Odyssey for good because FDev never gets around to working through whatever issues are preventing it from working at launch.

If they aren't promising a feature explicitely I'd say the safe bet is not expecting it. Of course there is plenty of time for that to change.

I’m afraid your trite 'stop talking about this thing I don’t care about' postings will do nothing to inhibit myself and others from pushing for our promised land wherever possible ;)

What's trite is the complaining about things that aren't in evidence

I’ve given you a historical example, with context, of why VR support for Odyssey is in no way guaranteed by official announcements to date.

I could load you with plenty more comparable evidence, but given you haven’t actually engaged with any of the arguments presented to date, I’m not sure what the point would be.

I agree with expecting worst-case-scenario, I just have gotten a bit fed up of people claiming it'll never come and that Frontier are crooks, liars (or words to that effect) just because they have been careful what to say and what not to say.

They aren't a little family run business. I wouldn't get too attached.

I agree, Frontier don't owe us anything. But they do invoke a lot of passion from people who love what they do, and that includes me and the VR players who are upset. But that also doesn't excuse some of the more nasty things that have been said. There is a lot of confusion flying around at the moment, and I'd like people to be a bit patient, all good things come in time.

I've never suggested it was guaranteed one way or the other, that's the point.

True. But you have repeatedly tried to shut down anyone who has evidenced, reasonable concerns about the likelihood of future support.

I’m not sure what’s in it for you. VR-heads will: Continue to be disappointed at the news; attempt to tip the odds of VR support in their favour through canvassing FDev via official channels; and seek to get further official clarity wherever possible. Be it to uncover silver linings amongst the broody clouds, or to clear a gap through which the sunshine of overt support might travel ;)

Because we’re big fans of both ED & VR.

But carry on with your unlikely campaign against our unlikely campaign if you fancy. Weird way to spend your time though ;)

I like Frontier and I would not accuse them of lying over this. But they must have known what the reaction would be from VR users like ourselves. They still chose to do it at the end of the week when there is nobody here to give us answers. Even then it was left to a community manager to break the news of no VR at launch later. Deliberate?

I agree, I think they knew what the reaction would be, so I ask myself "Was that a hard decision to make, knowing it would upset people?" because saying something you know will upset people, but has to be said ... that takes courage

Would you have preferred Frontier to let you think VR was included in Odyssey, and then announce it won't be in it at launch ... just before launch? Imagine the reaction then.

when there is nobody here to give us answers.
Perhaps they don't have any as yet. From what I understand it was a leak so not a scheduled release notice.
TBH I'd have thought they'd be all hands on deck for the Carrier release in a couple of days and I suspect they are so that might explain the lack of detail or priority on Odessy information.

Ah but they are not here are they? They will wait for the dust to settle (Well they think it will have  ) and return next week.

As a VR player I will be locked out from future improvements because of an F’ing first person shooter module.
That is a choice you have made though and we don't know that for certain.
It will certainly be interesting to see what the nature of the next expansion will be, but I can't see it removing anything that we currently have so I doubt you'll be missing out on anything.

Why would they engage with the forum when all they see is
AAAAGAGAGAGAGAGGAAAAHGGGGGGHHHHH IMMMA RAGE AAAGGGGGGAAGGGGHHHHHH YYYYYYYY NO VR??????????

Yes I'm exaggerating, but think about it from their POV. Would you want to deal with an angry mob with flaming torches and pitchforks?

What are you on about a leak?

Then they finally have the balls to break the news of no VR half way down page 63
