will be able to buy this game update Directly through the "Frontier Store" or will be forced to go thru 'Steam'?

What you call "Ground Legs" have been called SpaceLegs since ED launch, newcomer ;)

Rather than trying to be smart, care to share what you think about this? Not the VR issue, but what would Spaceleg add to the game, given every planet so far has been empty enough to be bored while speeding in a SRV or even a ship?
I think he is talking about leaving your ship when it is still in space.

Hello Games did it with NMS and that was added to a game that never supported VR from the beginning. And with a smaller team I believe.
As I say, it's certainly possible. That's different from whether fdev think it's viable in the time they have.

If they said "we will definitely be adding VR later" that's a whole different thing. That omission only fuels doubt.

Yes, so comparatively little has been said so far it leads most everything down the road of speculation. That and $5 will get you a hot beverage at SB's.

I just want to know if Odyssey is "no VR when on foot" or "no VR anywhere". Because the latter really would be a slap in the face. Yes I know I can boot Horizons, but we all know that it will be left behind and become a second-class citizen, just like vanilla was.

Incidentally X3 Rebirth had live VR / non-VR switching in 2017, just by taking the headset off or putting it on. It's a solved problem.

No VR on release. So no VR at all in Odyssey until FD say otherwise.

Uhh, yeah pretty much is my guess too.

What in the world does fortnite have to do with monthly free games from the PSN store that was a thing .... Before fortnite was even released????

Monthly fee for rental games means free? Are you watching free movies on Netflix too? Did I miss something?
BTW Old Duck is on PC AFAIK and only Epic is handing out major free games.

Horizons won't continue for long, if they think the number of VR players isn't enough to warrant the effort for O they won't continue running/maintaining the servers and infrastructure for those "few" VR players left in horizons for long.
There are no seperate servers for VR user and there is no reason to have it removed from the base game or horizons.

Hum... Correction: they won't continue running/maintaining the servers and infrastructure the code for those "few" VR players left in horizons for long.

We totally need a clear announcement about VR. I hope the team will do it soon.

Jesus... It's NOT BEING DISCONTINUED.
It's just not going to be there at launch.

The funny thing about this discussion is, that those who dismiss the complaints of VR users lightly and point to such assumptions like that it surely is going to follow, just not be there at launch (surely what FDev want us to believe so the outcry is not at max), do not get is that this is an omen about what is going to happen to this game for more and more of its parts/groups/platforms.

FDev is pulling out of Elite step by step, and one day you will look back and think that it should have been obvious that they were cutting costs on development of Elite Dangerous where they could, and it will only go downhill from here. When you guys then agonize over loss of a beloved game, say in 2 years from now, us VR users will already have dealt with this loss and be enjoying some other game which took its place.

At the end this is the cycle of life I guess, it just saddens me immensely that I think that this game deserved so much more dedication from FDev and could have been so much more. I would have gladly paid much more for the game and its extensions if they had chosen to go down this route and provided annual seasons with meaningful added value against substantial fees.

It was not to be.

Which part of nonsensical ramble is based on any evidence?!
Oh right it's public forum-- no need for that. Sure you're right pal! :D

Why would they remove the code? As to maintaining it, it's not like it needs being fed. It's already in there and it works mostly fine, there is no reason for Fdev to remove it from the base game or horizons.

I like how some people are jumping through hoops just to be always right
