I love the tilting steam in VR, so false but I tilt my head left and right often for the fun of itMaybe its just that the new effects are 2d .. like the steam in the landing bays... and would just look shyte in VR

Absutely PVP may be a minority activity in ED bit I would not ask for its removal. If you mean pvP in VR o wouldn't ask for that to be blocked either I was just saying a hypothetical ascenario that some have said where VR made PvP unfair in open. I don't buy it myself mind youBut if that were the case wouldn’t PvP players be entitled to expect the game continued to support their preferred gameplay?!![]()
shhh. dont mention the great advances in tilting steam tech. us vr players enjoy on a day to day basis.I love the tilting steam in VR, so false but I tilt my head left and right often for the fun of it2d guys, you are so missing out on tilting steam, start a thread! Odyssey with tilting steam v no Odyseey? You know where my vote is.
We’re still reading everything, rest assured!![]()
You take them with you; because whether you play Horizons or the base game, you have a single shared online account which represents your commander.I have a question...
When in Horizons or the base game we all accrue credits, materials, ranks, ships etc. When we take part in any beta those resources are available to us but any additional i.e. the purchase of a fleet carrier is lost when the beta ends... because it runs on a separate server I think. If I play on Horizons and then switch to the base game... do I take my new hard earned credits with me and any rankings etc... or are they lost?
I would "assume" Odyssey will share the same single account and all credits etc.If credits and ranks in one version are carried over to another... then Odyssey (I'm a LEP... so I've already bought it) becomes a 2D experience to tolerate in solo mode whilst gathering the new stuff and Horizons the Flight Assist Off, Open Play game VR experience... until VR in Odyssey is clarified... or VR is dumped completely.
Or drop both and make Odyssey a text adventure for that gritty, retro feelSurely FD should drop 2d and make it a VR only game???
Now you're just being sillyJust had a thought, FD say they want to offer "that same experience without compromise" and are therefore dropping VR. But hang on, as every VR player will agree the experience in the entire game in VR is soooo much better than 2d. Surely asking VR users to go back to 2d is a massive compromise that contradicts their own statement? Surely FD should drop 2d and make it a VR only game???
It's dark, you might be eaten by a grue.Or drop both and make Odyssey a text adventure for that gritty, retro feel![]()
Hah! In all seriousness, I cannot do "walking" in VR without being sick, but I can manage the teleport mechanic.. but I just cannot see how that would translate to PvP. PvE it's absolutely fine as the AI can aim in milliseconds after you teleport, if it wanted to.Would that be the PvP which FD officially stated was a minority activity in ED ?)
I doubt it was concerns over PvP. My "impression" is that it's either a technical issue (tho, presuambly this will use their VR capable Cobra engine?) or a quality/gameplay issue with getting it to "feel" good in VR, and dealing with the whole walking vs teleporting and that's where PvP might come into it. How do you do PvP FPS with teleport movement? I just cannot see it - probably just a lack of imagination on my part as apparently it's been done.Of all the things I really hope that is not why VR got chucked under a bus. I.dont PvP anyway. IF that was the reason just lock it out of open like the high Res screenshots. But that said PvP is so unbalanced in ED with cotrol methods, engineering, multiscreen setups, network monitors, players using macros and scripts.... I really don't think VR should be considered the unfair advantage to not allow it in PVP
But what happens if you play in 2D Odyssey and you finish your FPS session on an atmosphere planet, sit on a rock, rest your nerf gun against a nice green tree and take a deep breath of clean air before switching off for the night. Next day you switch on and decide you fancy a bit of VR. What on earth (or not on earth) happens? You take them with you; because whether you play Horizons or the base game, you have a single shared online account which represents your commander.
The beta differs, because they clone that single account for the beta, typically from an old backup (several weeks old).
I would "assume" Odyssey will share the same single account and all credits etc.
Out of curiosity, how long do you use VR and do you have some inner ear problems, motion sickness of somesuch that could contribute to that? Usually people adapt over time.In all seriousness, I cannot do "walking" in VR without being sick
Hi Alec,
We’re still reading everything, rest assured!
We don’t have any more details at the moment on how that split would work yet, however we’ve heard the questions and the feedback. We’ll be sharing more information closer to release.
To reiterate (it’s a long thread, things easily get lost!) you will still be able to play the base game and Horizons with VR, that isn’t changing.
Cheers,
Tim
Going off the YouTubes .. this seems like co-op and not PvP, right? And.. the player doesn't move, they're stationary. I can't imagine this being a good fit for Elite, as players are going to want to move about their ship, planetary bases, etc.All parts of Serious Sam VR disagree with that sentenceIt is great. Didn't try multiplayer with pancakers but I know it's possible.

Steam page for SS3 VR BFE said:Multiplayer – Fight against each other or other teams in various multiplayer versus modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Last Man Standing, Last Team Standing and Instant Kill. Or, you know, play nice and game together in Standard Co-Op, Classic Co-Op and Coin-Op Co-Op. Op op!
I use VR for hours and hours without issue as long as I'm flying my ship. It's the SRV, and games where I "walk" that turn my stomach. IRL I can read a book in a car without any motion sickness. But, I do get motion sick on boats (but then I don't travel by boat often). I haven't tried to "push through" the motion sickness in games with walking mechanics, instead I either switch over to the teleport mechanism or (if not supported) I don't buy/play them in the first place.Out of curiosity, how long do you use VR and do you have some inner ear problems, motion sickness of somesuch that could contribute to that? Weird that I can only find PvP non VR videos or VR PvE or solo then .. from what I can see, the sliding "walking" motion would make me ill![]()
Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE on Steam
Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE is a virtual reality action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.store.steampowered.com
