I don't think it is honest calling those having their primary way they play the game not having support in their new content as haters.
At some point maybe the primary feature you play the game for will get removed and then you can get some understanding.
I almost wish FD would say due to the new and exciting features of the game it really didn't work in a competitive environment with our networking so ED:O will be single player only.
Once enough salt has been extracted then. Few months later follow up with
After feedback from our players MP is back in however so we can balance properly the game will ONLY be MP so all modes other than open will be dropped on all 3 platforms.
Realistically with EvE hanging on Star Citizen poised for Q2 release next year and Starfield looking like its roll out will be Q3-21 to Q2-22 you need to have as many playing the game as you can get regardless of mode. My post wasn't even about pvp and multiplayer mode. It was in reference to the fear planet walkers will be flyby ganked by griefers.

Ah ok. With no quote for context I just thought you were complaining about those who are grouchy because they would no longer be able to play the game with their gear . My reply was not about MP/SP specifically it was just the feature I know has generated the most salt over the last 7-8 years. If either one of those features were removed and players told if you want to MP or want to play out of open then use horizons the complaints would be legendary.

Sometimes companies get the mood of the playerbase wrong and I just hope this is one of them.
Xbox1 is the example which jumps to mind.

Xbox1 was to be online only . "It's not like we can just flip a switch and make the machine work offline.... We have a product for those who want offline, it is the Xbox 360"

A few weeks later after a huge uproar...... They flicked the switch.

To all 2D players think about this. After you bought your 4k monitors and better graphics cards because FD supported 4k in horizons they then announce they can't do 4k in Odessey because the new system can't support it so they can only allow windowed 640x480 at launch, no saying if or when that will ever change. But VR players get better quality graphics. You would rightly rant 10 fold what you see here. And you would never see a VR player criticise you, we would agree with you even though 640x480 is far less a compromise than removing VR completely.
If there were obvious technical reasons why 4K had to be dropped-initially-I would be completely fine with it, especially if it only applied to the latest DLC.

Since Steam have just started to support OpenXR for the SteamVR Beta, with the intent of going into the main client, there may be hope. I believe that Oculus already supports OpenXR (it was intended to some time ago). This would allow for one set of coding to enable all makes of HMD to work with any application adopting it.

Realistically Eve is barely hanging on! If you think SC will be released next year then dream on. There is more chance of VR being added to Odyssey! No Mans Sky is at least a finished game with a heap of upgrades, and all credit to them for doing that, but the graphics are the weakest part IMHO. I looked at it before choosing ED And to me there was no contest.

I wonder how all this is going to work using a HOTAS on PS4

On the plus side: there are going to be people in the ED galaxy!!

One of my big complaints about the game is how static and empty it can seem. But if we can see people walking/hopping about, it'll start to feel like a populated galaxy. Next question: will "on-foot" NPC people have voices, or communicate through text chat? "These sneakers are in the top 1% of all sneakers out there...." ???

So you can get out and walk around desolate barren worlds, wow, a new low!

Horizons, planetary landings, but not quite, not planets with atmosphere, never updated which is what a lot of people I speak to were expecting at some point, let down, and this adds no actual game play, no imagination, very limited appeal, no clear roadmap if any at all which is what it feels like playing, no real bugfixes (Multicrew - Broken since release, NEVER FIXED) - About what you can expect from deveolpers like this!

If there are NPC’s walking about I hope they are not the zombies you get in SC.

I guarantee that the vast majority of those players claiming that they won't be playing Elite ever again because Odyssey doesn't have "blah blah blah" will be there on day one downloading it like the rest of us.
I guarantee I will have a look because for better or for worse I already bought it. But I equally promise FD won't see another penny from me within ED without VR and going forward if I buy an FD game it will be when on deep discount well after launch.
I also guarantee had I NOT already paid for it I would absolutely not be buying at launch until it was at the £7 kind of levels that the horizons dlc is now. (And even that is no certainty )

Why would anyone want to go back. Would you go back to watching terrestrial TV. Would you go back to watching it in black and white. Would you go back to CRT monitors that weigh an absolute ton. (somebody is going to say yes to that, I just know it) Phones with no touch screens. It should be about going forwards. It really should.
Anyway, stick around to fight the good fight. We need every Commander we can get.
Ooo! you have pulled the right heart string with that last line... I thought I was gone and walking off into the sunset.

Like the fleet carrier betas before it, it won't be getting installed on my PC because I won't be interested in it. Even though I've paid for it.

Maybe they will also pre-order it ? :p

I can never make my mind up where you stand on the VR thing, sometimes it looks like you are baiting the VR guys, other times you appear to be sympathetic/empathetic to our cause? Devils Advocate maybe? Either way, when I see your microbes tagline in a post I know its going to be entertaining and add to the conversation.
