Noooooo

In fairness, the OP wanted to cut corners because they read it on the internet, but didn't bother to follow the process properly, then after ignoring all warnings the game does give you posts here in DD whether it's a bug.

Of course he's going to get a light ribbing.
Yeah so? OP made a mistake a big one, ridicule is realy quite low brow.....I did a similar (less expansive) mistake early doors, I read the Viper was a good combat ship so bought one and straight away took it into a CZ, no upgrades just as is...needless to say I didn't last long and it stands as my only rebuy. Humans are fallible, Elite is a complex game, FAR more complex now than it was in 2015.

Not that you read this but for others reading this topic: OP has almost five year experience with the game, and nothing ever changed about this part of the game. If your ship blows up, and you either can't afford or refuse to pay the insurance you lose the ship. Of course OP knew this, it was just a daft brain fart. It happens, and then people get a Sensible Chuckle out of it. He'll live, and maybe his Asp will too.

Again, the OP heard about this "suicidewinder thingimabob" on the innerwebz, because it's a quick way to return to the bubble if you follow a specific number of steps.

I don't want to lean too heavily on the OP for making a mistake, but the point remains they could've properly done the research and follow instructions precisely doing something that involves self-destructing your ship.

I mean, it says that in the menu in the game, with a yellow/black warning banner. If that doesn't deserve some lighthearted ridicule then I don't know what does.

And it has nothing to do with how complex Elite is. It's like deleting your save in any game and be surprised why you can't continue to play from where you left off.

Edit: I just checked the OP's registration date and post count after @Ian Skippy mentioned it above. Let me say this once more: LOL

OP.
To get back to the bubble, I'm hitching a lift on 777Driver's FC when it arrives at the centre. Maybe if he's got room, he could fit you on if you get your Asp back. Just a thought.

I have had 19 rebuys, lol. What can I say, I dont like giving up in a fight. Losing a ship doesn't bother me, you would think I would learn, but the red mist descends in a dogfight.

As far as the OP goes; unlucky - daft mistakes happen. Good luck getting it back but prepare yourself for a long journey back if they stick you in it back where you blew up.

Far more importantly, I’m very disappointed in the ‘thread team,’ you’ve really let me down here as I was extremely interested in hearing all about our whacky friends selection for the Red Arrows display team. I was intrigued to know whether he’s one of the three new pilots selected for 2020 or perhaps he is a more experienced ‘Arrow.’ An opportunity to ask him about his career path, often via Typhoons but now seemingly also via War Thunder, all missed due to your laziness politeness...or was it just weariness of another web weirdo?

Either way, tisk tisk team, tisk tisk.

Think I'm between 50 and 100, would have to check. Total rebuy costs certainly in the 9 digits. And I don't even PvP actively, but enjoy taking risks, especially when the credit balance refuses to go down no matter what I do:)

hmmm fair enough on the join date, but I'm certain peple were assuming "noob" with most of the comments. But people play games for different reasons and some people play games intensly and exclusively (a LOT here do!), some play all sorts and thus have a lot less time to devote to a single game, some leave a game for months/years on end come back and make a daft mistake. Before knowing the whys and wherefores people were quick to ridicule.

Noob or not, the instructions are available, they are clear but require specific steps, the OP was too casual/half-baked following it and paid the price. I don't even think it's a huge price - you can buy and engineer an Asp pretty quickly again, the mats are easy to come by and he has access to engineers already (he was worried about the Asp itself more than the lost exploration data (maybe it's sinking in since), now that would annoy me, but at the same time I would only blame myself for it and not expect someone else to fix it for me).

Why do you think people laugh at funny home videos? Where in 99.9% of cases it's people doing something dumb? I don't think anyone here is viciously ripping into the OP, and I'm sure they're fine and can laugh about themselves, too (I hope so at least).

I presume he sold data at explorers anchorage? Yes I agree the op was too casual and misinformed, some of the comments went a bit too far IMO.

The difference is the chap posted here, it's like you saw someone fall over in front of you and laughed in their face...not that you saw a video of it.

I'm particularly interested in how he passed the written tests. Any of them.

I had to get to bed right after my last post yesterday or I'd have been all over it. I actually have to correspond with RAF pilots (as well as other members of HM armed forces) in my job and, well no. Just no.
