Looks to me like it's been on top of a heater for too long. Taste is as personal thing, though.
Does it do elite dangerous in VR? Oh wait, what’s the point?
Personally I don't really care about aesthetic (although I do like this PS5 waifu).Irrespective of what you think of the box aesthetics (seriously, do people still care about that vacuous stuff & base their purchasing decisions on it? Bizarre...), it's going to be one shexshy piece of kit.
Having said that, I only bought a PS4 Pro 18 months ago or so, and upgraded it with a 2TB SSD which cost about as much as the console did, so I'm in no rush to upgrade.
But I can see in 12 months time me becoming very tempted... especially once the games really start rolling out for it.

PC nerd in me will prefer things like cooling efficiency (i.e. noise levels)
I have decided prior to the announcements that I'm going to buy one of the next gen consoles next summer and purely based on the games and exclusives on either one.
That being said, I also plan to build a new PC over the winter after Ryzen 3, RDNA2 and nVidia 3xxx cards are out, so it's possible I'm gonna get as much mileage out of the console as I did from my last one (PS3) - that being just two games.
In any case the hardware of these new consoles is awesome and I'm looking forward to studying the details and watching it run
Yep, pretty much exactly this.
I'm just saying I won't be pre-ordering it. I'll wait and let the dust settle a bit from the inevitable launch issues of both consoles, and then see what's what.
I already have a pretty good gaming PC, so no desperate need to upgrade there (except maybe an RTX card to replace my 1080Ti). But a PS5 can provide the same graphical features (real time raytracing), so the money might go there instead depending on the costs.
Here is size comparison I found that uses the disc slot and USB ports ... the PS5 is a lorg boi!

I also have an 1080ti and honestly it still feels like a powerhouse.
I am planning to upgrade towards the end of next year and keep the current rig for the kids.
I was an avid console gamer for a long time, but I can't see myself returning to it. Too narrow spectrum of games and utility - and can't justify the costs next to a gaming pc.
Aye, the 1080Ti is still more than fine as it is - I'm in no rush to change it.
But then you have things like the Unreal 5 trailer, which will be released next year. Once developers start utilising that, games should take a massive graphics leap forward as the hardware is being exploited. Good as it is, a 1080Ti wouldn't even get close to it.
So I'm expecting to buy a PS5 next summer, and hand down the PS4 Pro to my daughter.
How old is she? My twin daughters are five, my son 18 months old... I figured at the age of six with school starting, the girls could take advantage of a PC that is still fast, and will also use it for both studies and gaming - currently testing waters with them using planet vs. zombies... I remember I was six when we got the C64, and it felt right.![]()
