Elite on the Oculus Quest - Amazing!

Yep, I have it running that way. It's amazing.
It took a little while to work out the right way to start it up (Steam/SteamVR/Oculus etc). I need to try again once the Oculus app is updated to v13 to match the software on the headset (not sure if the app is available yet).

Cool, I've ordered mine. Can't wait for it. Would love to get ori link cable, but it's not available in EU (Poland) yet . I know some options, but is there any information if the Oculus original Link Cable is somehow better than the 3'rd party solutions?

I believe the original link cable is better because it guarantees the quality over a longer length. I found a review on-line which said this cable worked https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07D7NNJ61/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which I bought and it works perfectly for me and as I only need to use it while sitting at my desk the shorter length isn't an issue. I have no idea if it would be better with the genuine cable. I spotted that the cable I link to is currently unavailable though so there may be some reviews out there that suggest other alternatives that might deliver to Poland.

When i had Rift S i stopped playing ED. Grayish space was killing game for me, i just couldn't focus on game anymore. I sold my Rift S, got Oculus Quest + some cheap cable from amazon and now playing ED everyday again. Black cosmos just rocks! Not to mention that VR cover for oculus quest is just so much better

As a rift s owner i tip my hat...this confounded cable..I have a clothes peg behind my ear/neck to keep the thing out of my mouth lol. My missus has a quest but just bounces around waving her hands at flying blobs.
Not had a chance to see it on a quest. But welcome to immersive VR. once you've entered our world it's impossible to play 2D ever again.

OK, thanks for the info! Can't wait to try it. I know that there is no way it could look like on my QHD 34 inch UW monitor, and I'm wondering if 3D, even with worse graphics will make me switch to VR. At the moment I'm not so sure about it, but I wish it would make me change my current way of thinking about it.

Hi,
I've recently started playing ED in VR (Oculus Quest with Link Cable). It works really great and gives so much to the game.
The only thing I struggle with is to talk to my buddies on Discord. Apparently Quest doesn't support discord. Does anybody know some way around that?
The only solution that came to my mind is to have a small earbud connected to my phone with Discord running and on the top of that wearing big headphones connected to Oculus.
If you have any other idea, please share.

Guys, I've just got a quest, got my self a link cable.

Every tutorial I can find is either steam VR or streaming via Windows desktop or alvr.

Since I have the cable, I don't wanna stream it.

What am I missing? How do I get Ed to run via link?

Hi Talzus, a rough guide that will hopefully get you into the game:
  • Install Oculus software on your desktop
  • Connect your Quest and follow any instructions
  • Settings/General/Unknown Sources <enable this setting in Oculus
  • Start ED
  • Options/Graphics/3D/HMD(Headphones) <enable this setting in ED
I’d already got Oculus installed for my Rift S before I connected the Quest, but the process was very simple. One other thing for me, I need to start the ED launcher before the Oculus software otherwise the ED launcher crashes.

Hope it all works, it’s an amazing experience!

Cool, I will give it a try and report back. I did get the launcher crash last time I tried, so I will give it a whirl as discribed. Thanks!

Ok and I'm assuming I've done something wrong...connected the quest to the pc oculus app and used the beta connection to allow quest to essentially replace the rift s in sound and VR.
Fired up ed went in and....omg! Pants! Total pants! Compared to my rift my missus's quest was low res lag shaking pants.
Now I did the cable test it passed and afaik I did it all right.
Please tell me I'm wrong and cocked it up
