Newcomer / Intro Anaconda Cargo Bay failure

Just got a 'Conda and following a new Youtube video, have set it up for some subsurface mining when I seem to have come across an issue. On my first visit to a local planet, I shot an LTD outcrop off an asteroid and sent a collector out to get it. It retrieved it, the radar shows it attempting to dock back to my ship but then I get a Collector Limpet failure. Tried again and another failure. On the 3rd launch, I checked my outside camera and the limpet appears to try and dock the LTD with the ship but graphically, the size of the outcrop is larger than the hole in the ship and that is when the collector fails. I launched a 4th limpet and went straight to outside camera and again the collection failed as the LTD made contact with the cargo bay.

I checked all my settings and double-checked that the cargo bay was deployed.

Has anyone else seen this problem ? I've had no issues gathering stuff with my Type 9 or the Clipper.

Odd. Are you targeting the lump before sending out the limpet? Have you tried with nothing targeted?

Both. First time I just sent a collector out. When it failed, I targeted it. And it's definitely reporting "Collector failed" and not "Collector expired" and the LTD deposit is not being added to my cargo.

Pity I didn't screengrab it, it was just an unusual thing to happen.

My first post was a question to see if this had happened to others. No point chasing a known bug. So to give my question time, I took the Conda back to dock, changed ships and am currently collecting fine in a Clipper.

I'll give it till this evening UK time to see if anyone else has seen this "bug", then I can take the next steps. In the meantime I'll get my screen capture software set up later today, so when I do get back in the Conda and try again, I'll see if the same is happening and this time, I'll get some evidence to show the devs.

Okay, my attempt to test the original problem has escalated. Logged off for the evening meal, tried to access the game but while it was loading, I ALT-TAB'd into Google Chrome to check something on EDDB and my entire PC crashed. Rebooted and now the game won't load into any modes after the main menu, giving me an Orange Sidewinder error, Cannot connect to server. Looks like I'll have to reinstall and check this again tomorrow. Just hope it's not my savegame thats got corrupted. Curiouser and curiouser.

Or after a lot of playing in the last 3 weeks, it could be someone's way of telling me to get out of the house and enjoy the nice weather we're having, in a socially distanced way of course :D

I'm quite sure that it's probably at my end, Para but thanks for verifying it. One thing I do notice from your pic is the collectors are accessing the Conda from the rear or lower side (difficult to tell due to the darkness of the pic) ? When my problems occurred, they were coming up in to a "hatch" in the middle underneath of the ship.

As I posted above, my game is currently screwed up so I'm having to redownload and reinstall. Assuming my savegame isn't wrecked as well, when I finally get in, I'll test again with a screencap program running alongside, just in case it happens again. (y)

Are you having those fragments targeted when you fire the collectors?
If so keep in mind that collectors have 2 modes of operation:
  • targeted - they move really fast (200 m/s) to retrieve the target, but they get destroyed after delivery. So this is a one-shot usage model
  • non-targeted, you fire them without any (valid) target. They will live for the duration being able to retrieve everything in their range, but at a much slower speed, 60 m/s

Here you go, ramped-up the gamma for you:

Thank you all for your help and advice. Especially Para, those pics did help.

After my reinstall, I've just got back into the game. And contrary to what I'd thought, I did NOT have a refinery on my Conda. Embarrassed that I've taken folks time here. No excuse other than misread 4A Shield Generator as 2A Refinery. Don't ask me how or why, I couldn't answer you.

Again thanks. I'm going to hide in SOLO mode for a long while :/

You are not the first and you for sure won't be the last. I am sure all of us have had some brain-fade moments in the game - I have them often.

Glad you are sorted. (y)

Looks like they are delivering to the hanger.

Yes strange isn't it - I checked with a Python and sure enough they feed the cargo hatch. I don't have anything else with a hangar space so don't know if the 'conda always gets fed there (I didn't have a hangar fitted BTW).

(I love that repaint - when I get around to actually building my model Clyde Puffer it is going to be painted in Predator Crimson! 🆒 )

Now won’t that be a sight to see.
