New to Game

Hello everyone,

I'm relatively new to the game and have been only playing for about a month or so and want to begin exploration. I am looking for a ship with an amazing view but is also good for exploration and need help. i'm think of converting my mining anaconda or possibly getting an orca or beluga but im not sure how the window are for a view any tips would be good.

The view from the Cutter or Clipper is pretty sweet, although that does require some Imperial rank grinding. Both make excellent exploration ships.

Asp ex has a wonderful view and probably the best for me. The Orca and Beluga are also good with the Beluga being particularly expansive with its wide-screen view. It really puts you in the scene.
Some good vids here of each ship to give you a feel of their view from the bridge. Click a ship name to view them.

Many often worry about the view from inside the ship. Setting up the Camera Suite and the Free Camera
in Options/Controls provides amazing inside/outside views with any ship. Cockpit views cannot compete.
Never explore without them. :)

Meanwhile my Orca explorer had plenty of great views using the Neutron Highway going to Colonia.

I would suggest the Krait Phantom over the AspX. The phantom is just better at everything the AspX does.

Of course, if you don't have Horizons, then your options are pretty much the AspX or DbX.
Also, the Orca is a pretty damn good explorer, despite most people thinking it is a passenger craft.

I guess "great view" is subjective. Personally, I like the feeling of being on the bridge of a starship, so that's Orca, Beluga, or Anaconda.
Some folks prefer a large field of view, so that's AspX, Phantom, or MK II.

Also, as an aside, the Intergalactic Astronomical Union is always looking for dedicated explorers to help collect data, and perform survey missions.
We placed 5th on the squadron leaderboards for exploration last season, and have members across the globe. We also have among our ranks a dozen or so of the top exploration veterans of the game.

We have partnerships with nearly three dozen squadrons, and have contributed several fleet carriers to the Deep Space Support Array.
Lastly, we also have one of the largest public codex discovery databases, comprised of data collected from our EDMC plugin, EDDiscovery, or Elite Observatory.

Check the links in my sig for more info.

Asp X is the vessel I've used for years and ticks all the boxes for starting exploration.

Quite surprised your new to the game, playing for around a month and in that time got an Anaconda.... did you get it as a gift from Hutton? 😂

I'd say if they have the Annie for mining, it's no longer "starting" out. Hence the suggestion of the Phantom.

That being said, for a relatively new CMDR the AspX is significantly less expensive. One could argue the Phantom is more of an "end game" explorer.

Guess it's the difference between a V6 "base model" sports car, and the race-ready supercharged V8 model.

Asp X is the vessel I've used for years and ticks all the boxes for starting exploration.
