You create a problem then, create a service to eliminate it.
I'd probably phrase it as acknowledging that this gameplay exists and that everyone has a better time if people are versed, to some degree, in contextual gameplay counters to it. At least I certainly have more fun if I feel my CMDR stands a chance at escape and I'm sure most players behind opposing CMDRs don't mind having to work for their victories.
You create a problem then, create a service to eliminate it. It's easier to simply block players determined to make life miserable for others.
Only rarely have I been under the impression that those players who are having their CMDRs attack mine were at all intent on making my life miserable, even when such attacks were seemingly unprovoked and or featured overwhelming odds. Most were not at all opposed to my extracting entertainment from the event and many others were indifferent...malice from one player to another is relatively rare, and usually reserved for chat.
But yes, not playing the game is invariably easier than playing it, and if one's goal is to categorically avoid this sort of play, the most straightforward solution is to select a more appropriate mode from the get go.
You misunderstood my post. I'm talking about the barrel called open.
Hard to liken 'fish in a barrel' to 'CMDRs in Open' when Open, just like any other mode, covers the entire Milky Way.
