Gank Evasion Academy

I couldn't find you, so I looked at how to send a friend invite, which was also a no go. Guess I'll have to engineer my scanner. I'm in VR so I can't chat, but I'll try to rig up a microphone. Cya in the dark, watch your six ;)
Just search Sir Ganksalot in friends. I actually heard SPEAR was in the new mining system so I had to head back and lay the smack down.

But what if players feel they can't trust you? Is there any way they could perhaps not sign up, or maybe not contact you & just carry on playing their own way?

That seems like something people could probably do, right?

;)
I think I might make an edit to this post. I'm happy to get this kind of feedback.

What’s the problem? Like the idea and think you may learn something, what have you got to lose but a little time and literally one rebuy (if you feel you’ve been hoodwinked.) Don’t like it, don’t do it.

I‘m out exploring but have a Cmdr in the Bubble and am always happy to learn something or improve what I think I already know.

I fly in VR so the tippy tappy is a nightmare. Is in game voice Comms viable? Like Bigmeac I’m not a fan of Discord ( I just find it confusing, possibly middle age.) Also, you haven’t mentioned best times for this, is there much scope time-wise. I find I actually have more time to play during the day at the moment - I’m UK based so UTC +1.

Times is something I'm working at the moment. I'm MST but I have other gankers willing to train in other time zones including Europe. We'll work on it once things get more underway.

Yes, the in-game comms are viable but discord would work best because I would be able to watch you stream and see what you're doing for better feedback but I understand not everyone wants to do that. I do need some way to be able to chat with you though and I think the in-game chat would work fine.

You create a problem then, create a service to eliminate it.

I'd probably phrase it as acknowledging that this gameplay exists and that everyone has a better time if people are versed, to some degree, in contextual gameplay counters to it. At least I certainly have more fun if I feel my CMDR stands a chance at escape and I'm sure most players behind opposing CMDRs don't mind having to work for their victories.

You create a problem then, create a service to eliminate it. It's easier to simply block players determined to make life miserable for others.

Only rarely have I been under the impression that those players who are having their CMDRs attack mine were at all intent on making my life miserable, even when such attacks were seemingly unprovoked and or featured overwhelming odds. Most were not at all opposed to my extracting entertainment from the event and many others were indifferent...malice from one player to another is relatively rare, and usually reserved for chat.

But yes, not playing the game is invariably easier than playing it, and if one's goal is to categorically avoid this sort of play, the most straightforward solution is to select a more appropriate mode from the get go.

You misunderstood my post. I'm talking about the barrel called open.

Hard to liken 'fish in a barrel' to 'CMDRs in Open' when Open, just like any other mode, covers the entire Milky Way.

If I wasn't relegated to playing entirely with voice attack while working to undo 35 years of gaming with a crappy posture, I would definitely give it a try.

Hopefully it's still going in a few months.

If Discord would work best I can go with that, I can certainly see the benefit if you can watch a stream. Hopefully you can get a good geographic spread of Cmdrs willing to help out.

Great idea and good luck, I’ll keep any eye on this thread.

Well, we're nowhere near the size of our PC counterparts but we do have a presence on PS. Whilst it's fair to say we have asserted our presence when we've seen players working against our faction, we're more than happy to metaphorically get the tea and biscuits out for anyone friendly coming over.

On account of this thread I started to pay some attention to the other players I meet, under 'History' in the comms section are listed all commanders in the same 'instance' as me, even those in solo, correct ?
