1st or 3rd?

I don't mind either way.. haven't you all played uncharted or rdr?

But i can't see how it won't be third person for maximum mass market appeal.

If squadrons goes could make things even more interesting for frontier developments.

I would imagine it would be first person, i mean, we are already flying in first person. It would be kinda dumb for them to change it to 3rd but i wouldnt be surprised at all. If it is 3rd person its just going to look like mass effect

My only concern in 1st person is the jetpack. Fiddly jumping in 1st person is really, really annoying if done badly since its hard to judge where you are. I still have nightmares jumping in Turok, while Goldeneye removed it entirely. If FD do it I wonder if they with have some sort of hybrid system between both viewpoints (dependent on level design).

Thats a fair point. Perhaps they could go the route of games like eso, gta and rdr2, among others im sure, that give the the option to switch between 1st and 3rd perspective

When ED was 'new' the designers were against 3rd person views, but as time went on they relented (first with a debug cam, then fully featured it, then the gunnery mode drone cam view). My guess is they will be flexible deploying 3rd person- but they have to be careful. FD have more know how (based on developed games) in 3rd person than 1st, but they have to get an awful lot right first time to get people engaged with it long term.

You should have a go at Dying Light...

I still get the shakes when I remember the part when I had to climb an entire river bridge pillar, and then walk on top of some steel bars at the top to pickup some lamps, and then jump into the void so I could grab a zipline to slide back down... All in first person.

It is the only game that ever made me frequently feel real world vertigo, and it was bleeding awesome for it.

I imagine both. First person is the default for our ships, but we have a third person view.

Then again, in a FPS game, I mostly use 3rd-person for looking around corners and other obstacles...if FDev doesn't want that it will be first-person only. That said, I'm 95% of players aren't going to do anything with legs other than take selfies, so I think they'll keep the 3rd person option.

My only concern in 1st person is the jetpack.

Works fine in Tribes 2!
