Newcomer / Intro Anaconda Purpose

Of course before Cutters, Corvettes and buffing of T9's the 'conda was most useful for hauling loads.

Yes it is an awful wallowing thing to fly but is actually less of a pig than the Cutter and T9 (I don't fly a 'vette but I believe they are more manoeuvrable).

They are certainly awful in supercruise when out in the black transiting a system to map more than one body. I have an exploraconda out there still but I will never take another one out exploring, only the ability to fit loads of equipment makes it exploration-suitable, jump range is not important and the Phantom beats it anyway (DBx is too small internals-wise for a long trip in my opinion).

Interesting! My Conda has a jump range of about 15lys more than my Phantom! Time to a have a new look :D

The Phantom will not beat a jumpaconda in jump range. I would assume that the build being referred to has more than the basics outfitted - which will drag down the jump range.

I was referring to my own exploraconda with just over 60ly

I believe people explore in Phantoms with longer jump - maybe I have misremembered.

For me the point of the Anaconda was to show me that big ships are no fun and saved me hours and hours of rep grinding.

I owe that Anaconda a lot. I sold it long ago.

I resisted getting one for a long time. I eventually caved and built a JumpConda just before Carriers came out.

I use it exclusively for long-distance commuting. If I need to be somewhere else, and don't want the hassle and expense of moving the Carrier, I'll take the Conda. That includes scouting ahead for a Carrier jump destination.
