Exhibit Animal & Terrarium Expansion

Okay, so, let's just say it... exhibit animals suck... putting animals in boxes where they sit still and repeat the same animations over and over again is just not fun compared to making a large pen, filling it with animals and things, and watching them live their lives in beautiful, full-rendered animations. But using terrariums does make some things simpler I suppose... particularly when it involves animals so tiny it would be hard to see them at ground level... and they do exist in real-world zoos too... so in the spirit of compromise, I'm requesting improvements to the current terrarium system.

Namely, that they add more types of terrariums... currently there's only one terrarium; a simple, square box. Adding more terrariums of different sizes and shapes would allow more variety of building options, more animation options (perhaps animals could move around in larger terrariums?), and possibly even be a requirement for certain animals.

At the moment, the types of new terrariums that I can think of include:
A circular shaped terrarium, for the center of a room...
A 1/4 circular shaped terrarium; put one in a corner, or put four together to form a large circle.
A double wide terrarium; twice the width and good for small animals that need to run around (by which I mean add a running animation loop... or a few).
A triple wide terrarium; three times as wide and good for flying animals, like small birds and bats.

Perhaps they could even make a modular system, where putting terrariums together cause them to connect and form larger exhibits? ...I wouldn't know how that would work honestly... but I'm just spitballing here...

Would also be nice if we could add more than one type of animal per exhibit... since a lot of real-life zoos do that in their terrariums...

(EDIT)

So I suppose I should add a few animals to this suggestion... like my normal animal wishlist I'll stick with what seems possible with the game in its current form, even if my suggestions above would logically expand the options for terrarium animals...

[]Caecilians[]

Ringed Caecilian (Siphonops annulatus)
LC - A legless amphibian that resembles a large worm; mothers feed their own skin to their offspring.

Rio Lita Caecilian (Caecilia nigricans)
LC - One of the largest caecilians; grows over one meter and looks like a giant, blue worm.

[]Frogs[]

Amazonian Poison Dart Frog (Ranitomeya amazonica)
DD - A colorful dart frog with black and red stripes and blue legs. The name Amazonian Dart Frog is made up; it has no common name to my knowledge.

American Bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus)
LC - The all too common bullfrog... also known in science as Rana catesbeianus...

Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates tinctorius azureus)
DD - A toxic dart frog with blue, cyan and black coloration.

Madagascar Tomato Frog (Dyscophus antongilii)
NT - A frog with a round, red body, like a tomato! They secrete an iritating, glue-like toxin.

Northern Red-Legged Frog (Rana aurora)
LC - A small frog with a deep, blood-red coloration.

Strawberry Poison Dart Frog (Oophaga pumilio)
LC - A mostly bright red frog; some have blue legs. Actually, 15-30 different color variants are recognized.

Surinam Horned Frog (Ceratophrys cornuta)
LC - A reddish-brown frog with small horns over its eyes; one of the "Pac-Man" frogs.

[]Insects[]

Central American Giant Cave Cockroach (Blaberus giganteus)
DD - Also called the Brazilian Cockroach; lives in caves, but also trees and rocks.

Giant Asian Shield Mantis (Rhombodera basalis)
DD - At around 120mm (or about 5 inches) it's one of the largest of all mantis genre...

Giant Dead Leaf Mantis (Deroplatys desiccata)
DD - A somewhat large (75-80mm for females) mantis covered in dead leaf-like camouflage.

Hercules Beetle (Dynastes hercules)
DD - The longest of all beetles; males have massive scissor-like pincers.

Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle (Allomyrina dichotoma)
DD - A rhinoceros beetle with a unique horn; known as Kabutomushi (literally "Samurai Helmet Bug") in Japan.

Madagascar Hissing Cockroach (Gromphadorhina portentosa)
DD - A large, wingless cockroach; as the name implies, they make a hissing sound.

[]Lizards[]

Central Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps)
DD - A common lizard; the "bearded" part refers to the many spikes around its chin.

Eastern Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus ventralis)
LC - A snake-like legless lizard; it doesn't have the flexible jaw of a snake.

Veiled Chameleon (Chamaeleo calyptratus)
LC - Also called the Cone-Head Chameleon because of its large, pointed head; from Saudi Arabia, not France!

[]Molluscs[]

Giant Slug (Limax cinereoniger)
LC - The largest slug in the world... it actually has no common name that I know of, so I made up the "Giant Slug" label.

Pacific Banana Slug (Ariolimax columbianus)
LC - The largest slug in North America; some have yellow and black spots, while others are pure black.

[]Myriapoda[]

Giant African Millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas)
DD - The largest of all living millipede; looks like a giant, black worm with many legs.

[]Salamanders[]

Blue-Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale)
LC - A black salamander with blue spots running along its body.

Chinese Fire Belly Newt (Cynops orientalis)
LC - A small, black newt with a bright red belly.

Sierra Newt (Taricha sierrae)
LC - A newt with a dark red back and a bright red belly.

Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum)
LC - A black and yellow striped salamander; one of the largest salamanders in North America.

[]Snakes[]

Common Krait (Bungarus caeruleus)
DD - Also known as the Indian Krait; a dangerous venomous snake that kills more humans than any other.

Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus)
LC - The largest of its genus; also known as the Water Moccasin, it spends most of its time in the water.

Indian Cobra (Naja naja)
DD - One of the most recognizable (and dangerous) of all snakes.

I don't like the idea of mixing exhibit animals unless they both require the exact same humidity, temperature, size requirements, are roughly the same size (in real life), they require the same biome (desert etc) and are both herbivorous or wont prey on each other.

Because just like in real life you can't mix animal species without one being stressed, unless all those parameters are met.

That being said I've seen some agamids housed together. And some desert tortoises. I've also seen small arboreal snakes housed together in zoos. But other than that it's a big no no to mix animals in terrariums.

Well, yeah... that's kind of how it works for all mixed exhibits, in both normal habitats and terrariums. The fact remains though, some animals can be mixed, and having that option for terrariums would certainly be nice...

There's also a huge gap in species representation from different continents with Africa, Asia, and South America being the highest and Australia being one of the smallest. While Kangaroos, Dingos, and Cassowaries are no brainer picks for habitat animals, I would suggest some terrarium animals to represent some of the most diverse wildlife if they could be maybe twice as large such as; Koalas, Numbats, Echidnas, Platypus, Quolls, Quokkas, Cockatoos, Kiwis, Possums, Kakapos, or Tuataras. Kill two birds with one stone.

I love exhibits! They are definitely underrated by many players. I hope we get improvements to the exhibit system like new sizes, categories and more variety to animals like turtles and dwarf caimans to make it more appealing to other types of players since I don't want exhibits to be forgotten within the game's life cycle. I always fear they will slowly ignore exhibits "because people care more about habitat animals" and stop improving it. A definite YES from me! :)

New here, but love this idea.

It would be great to get 2 or 3 sizes of exhibits - maybe one twice as large, and one half as big? Or maybe one twice as large and another three times as large. Also different types of exhibits - the ones we've got now, one for small fishes and marine life, and one for small birds.

I don't pay much attention to the exhibits right now to be honest, but I'd love to see cobras, frilled lizards, painted turtle, black mamba, snapping turtle --- I guess you can tell I focus on the reptiles though.

I too would love to see different sizes of exhibits in the mix! It seems a little strange that green iguanas (for example) have the same size enclosure as insects and tiny frogs.
Hoping we get more exhibit animals, I'm a big lover of reptiles so this is one of my fav parts of the game.

I'm not sure the exhibit system would suit mammals and birds though. Because of how exhibits work in this game. It's quite different to the mini exhibits in Frontier's Zoo Tycoon.
