Guide / Tutorial Who should I avoid and who should I let Interdicdict me? (Solo)

So I'm often flying a Cutter or Python. Both are A-Rated with some engineering. I'm usually in Solo and am frequently Interdicted (Often by Anacondas!!!!!) Since I'm PvE most of the time, any suggestions about whether I should just let them or should I run? I'm not even sure what weapons loadout I should take for PvE...

I suppose in the first part, it depends on their rank and yours. I wouldn’t want to be combat ranked as ‘mostly harmless’ and face an Elite ranked Anaconda.

If you let them all interdict you that still leaves you the chance to run, interdiction does not end the running away chances, far from it.

Try to keep an eye out on who is around, normally the NPC will message you, you can quickly establish how highly ranked they are.

I run a Python, I run in solo only. I have (engineered to the max it has to be said) 3 multi cannons and 2 beam lasers. Kills most everything it’s just some take longer.

Interdiction by Anacondas is often from mission related hostiles, and those scale to the mission rank. If you're not comfortable handling a deadly 'conda, then don't. Especially since, if you stack missions, the hostiles from the other missions may also drop in to the dance.

I don't usually stack missions, and my default mission ship is a heavily armed & armoured Krait Mk.II. I like those mission interdictions for the extra money - and if I'm doing missions for INF or REP, those bonus payments and bounties may very well make up the majority of the income.

Stack 20 missions and put some gold in the hold.
Jump in and out of supercruise until you get incoming enemies on all.
Jump to the target system.
Drop onto the nav beacon, preferably compromised.
Press "play" on BFG Division.

When one's being interdicted, he is usually busy working to break it.
Where does one look to see the stats on who is interdicting?

Or ... when the message comes across that one is about to be targeted, and one opens and see gobs of contacts, how does he determine which is the hostile target?

This. I generally avoid interdictors unless they're mission-related, they're just boring. I generally stick to a Krait II as well, in which you only get interdicted if you WANT to. My mission-related enemies are ALWAYS Elite 'Condas and nothing is screamingly funnier than stacking 4 missions, having them ALL jump you when you attack one, and doing it in a HS system with 'crimes' on - about half a dozen green Connies show up and the resulting chaos is pure joy to behold! :ROFLMAO: The baddies are all shooting at each other, the cops are all shooting at the baddies, you are essentially untouched 'cause you've now got the least threatening ship, and you get a free time blasting baddies with the cops. It's a...ahem...blast! ';)

I have target selection set to Q&E on my keyboard - when you're being attacked the first contact will always be the attacker. (I have 'target closest attacker' on my JS as well.)
When receiving the threat announcement, either scroll your targets or look on the Contacts page - the one that announces his intent will be named, and easy to identify.
Hope this helps!

This is one of the situations where "target highest threat" is actually useful, since it'll always target whoever's interdicting you.
Cycle hostile targets will also get it, as they'll almost certainly be the only hostile ship in supercruise unless you've really annoyed the controlling faction.

The one maneuvering to put themselves behind you. Both the sensor contact and the orientation of ships you can see when you target them can help with this. Ship type and name are often giveaways as well.

Not necessarily - it could be a perfectly nice and respectful fellow in that Vulture that just happens to be named "Bloody Hellfire". ;)

As the interdiction proceeds the interdictor details appears automatically in your targeting panel, without having to select "next hostile" or "highest threat" or whatever. It doesn't happen right away, I'm not sure why not.

Actually, I sometimes submit just because waiting out the 10 second FSD cooldown to jump back into SC is faster than shaking them off. Such as I'm already about 0.20 ls out from the station and I really don't feel like being a further distance from said station

Funny, I've never actually noticed that. I always hit 'E' and take a few seconds to scan the attacker - I can afford it unless I'm in a T9. When attacked in Continental Drift I'm generally focusing on the interdiction, and never noticed the lower panel.
