Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Here's an example of a thread furiously attacked by white knights (and likely reported into the ground), though its interesting to see where the majority of the votes lie:

I'll be surprised if the thread isn't locked or deleted before the end of the day.

Meh. Some roadmap will appear, some new ship variant will go on sale, some event will take place, and all that unrest will turn into yet another crowdfunding record.

Say what you want about their development pace, but they're on point for marketing and monetising.

I was thinking its about time to post this ancient script to remind some people that its not "entitled" to expect a little more then the bare minimum ^^

TheYamiks made a hilarious "review" vid about Star Citizens Aurora. The YT title is

Aurora MR "review" [Star citizen]

tho I wont link it here due to TheYamiks explicit language, still a few "lol" moments in there hehehe

Investor is not the same as publisher. You and me doesn't know what's in the contract between CIG and the Calder's family. Perhaps I've missed the news where Calder was announced as the publisher of SQ42 ?

CIG has to release SQ42 fast because the backers will not wait longer for the solo game.
All core functions for the solo game are visible in the PU. The solo campaign is a military story, no need of trading gameplay and a lot of stuff specific to PU... Even the "bad" AI is ready. When you start a fresh server in the PU with just few players, the AI is good (no T pose, no one standing on chair and ennemy shooting at you as soon as they see you). The bad AI is relative to the AI server for multiplayer that struggle to keep the AI quality with time and the number of players. When you connect to a server you can say if it's a fresh or an old one by counting the NPC standing on chair.
What do you mean by quality A.I that could relate to Sq42?

Possibly my favourite reply...

What I find funny is that if people could accept information without a huge uprising... we would most likely already had all these things...
<SNIP>
...So... only thing you're doing here, is showing the ugly side of the community, that part that is impatient, doesn't understand a single thing about development of any kind...

So, it's the customer's fault for the lack of updates, a meaningless roadmap and non-delivery. All because they are silly headed children.

Yeah.

Where do you find your backer number ?

change this url to your account name at the end, instead of sovapid

i'm number 1916096

Thanks for that, I am 50232, same as on my Vice Admiral Card. I always wondered if that number had any meaning.

Our local advocate said the same thing:
One explanation is by the past everyone was complaining when CIG had to remove/postpone a card from the roadmap when not ready. So I think they just give us now the almost released cards. No-one will complain when a non-public card is delayed if no-one know it.

So "cards" are the units of development currency? Hmm... on a tangent... CIG should release a trading card game. Enter Wizards of the Coast 'Verse, printing their own money trading cards. I'm sure SC players are just itching to make use of their jpeg purchases. CIG needs to tap that mana big time.

An early scripture referring to the salvation of the righteous by Star Citisnt. These scrolls have become rare but the idea of salvation has penetrated Citisnt belief on many levels.

"...we will treat you with the respect you deserve rather than spend your money on public relations."
Hmmmmm

"When we need to change a mechanic or alter something you believe should be in the game, we will tell you exactly why."
Like PvP slider, VR, flight model, hyperjump, 100 planets...

Just a thought, but I remember a common theme here (and on SA) is that "nobody cares for the overload-of-cutscenes-with-famous-actors-fetish of CR" criticism. But I think the first hour or so of Death Stranding is 80% cutscene, and supposedly there is eight hours of it in total. And it's getting rave reviews on steam.

While that is where the similarities between the games/projects end, I did at times get a "Kojima is a competent version of CR" vibe: weird interfaces, loads of 'fidelities', self-indulgent cutscenes, massive ego, both set out to 'revolutionize gaming!' and so on. The two biggest differences are that Kojima has actual new ideas (whether they are fun or not is in the eye of the beholder) and the ability to release stable, optimized and finished products.
